"Alright, party people - and Dipper." Stan announces, snickering slightly. "Here are your assignments for the party: Soos, you're going to DJ.  Y/n and Dipper,  you're going to work the snack table together, and Wendy and Mabel are at the ticket bo-"
"What? No!" Mabel whines. "Tonight is my night to make some new friends, and hang out with Candy and Grenda! I can't do that if i'm outside working the ticket booth!"
Dipper clears his throat. "I, uh, could work with Wendy." he suggests. He then looks over at you for support.
"Yeah, you only need one person for the snack table. I'll be fine." you add, and Dipper smiles gratefully.
You smile back and think back to earlier today, when Mabel was getting frustrated at Dipper for writing out an entire check list of how he was going to impress Wendy.
"Just be yourself, and talk to her." you had told him, but he had insisted on using his list. He could be so stubborn sometimes.
Grunkle Stan looks around at all of you, before writing something on his clip board. "Alright. But Dipper and Wendy, neither of you are allowed to leave the booth for the entire night. You hear me?" he stares at them, waiting for their answer.
Dipper glances at Wendy then answers. "Got it."
"Yeah, sure, whatever." Wendy says as she and Mabel paint a face on Soos' stomach with silly string.
"Okay. Y/n, Dipper, I need you two to go to the copy room and make duplicates of these flyers for me. Don't spill any of your soda on it." Stan warns, pointing at the cups of Pitt Cola that you and Dipper each are holding. He hands you a piece of pink paper, and you look down to read it;

"Wow, this thing is beat up." you say, eyeing the machine that's covered in duck tape and looks like it's falling apart at the seams.
"Which one is the 'on' button?" Dipper asks, leaning on the top of the device to reach the many buttons that're attached to the wall behind it.
"Gee, I don't know Dipper. Could it be the big green one that says 'power' on it?" you say, reaching over and pushing the button.
"Oh. Right." Dipper laughs.
A light flashes up from the screen, flowing from one side to the other. Dipper quickly takes his arm off. You hear a faint beep and a piece of paper falls to the ground through a slot you hadn't previously noticed. Dipper reaches down and picks it up.
"Well, at least we know it works." he says, holding up a picture of his arm.
Suddenly, the paper starts shaking, and Dipper drops it. "What the..." he says as the arm suddenly emerges from the paper, becoming 3D and starting to inch towards you.
You and Dipper back into a corner, and the hand just keeps pulling itself forwards. It's just about to grab Dipper's foot when-
"Stay back!" you exclaim, throwing at it the only thing you have in your hands - your cup of soda.
Soda sprays everywhere as the cup flips over and collides with the hand, drenching it with it's contents. The arm fizzes and then melts into the floor.
Dipper looks over at you with wide eyes. "Y/n." he says, "This machine can duplicate people."

You and Dipper both agreed to just copy the flyers and go, and to definitely not tell anyone about the machine's strange ability.
It's almost time for the guests to start arriving, everyone starts moving towards their designated stations. You've gotten lucky. The snack table is inside where there's heating, and as a bonus it isn't too far from the dance floor, so you you can still talk to Mabel and her friends while you work.
Your job is also simple. When someone asks you for punch, you pour some from the bottle and into a plastic cup for them, and hand them a bag of popcorn if they want one of those as well. You really don't understand why people can't do these things themselves, but Stan is worried about people taking more than one cup of punch or spilling the popcorn, which cost him "an entire dollar per bag". You roll your eyes, remembering his lecture on how people can't be trusted to do simple things.
You hear a bunch of noise outside, and look out the window behind you to see a crowd of people buying tickets at Wendy and Dipper's booth. You laugh when you see Dipper trying to read from his check list, which is sitting on his lap, while he hands out the tickets. He must have said something weird, because Wendy gives him an odd look and he starts laughing nervously. You can see that he's starting to sweat, and feel slightly bad for him. Looks like his list isn't doing him much good after all.
You then look out at the dance floor to see Mabel and some blonde girl arguing. She looks about your age, and is wearing super fancy clothes for such a casual party. The blonde girl laughs at something she said, and so do the two girls standing behind her. They then walk away, leaving Mabel standing there with a frown on her face. You're just starting to think that you're the only one without anything exciting going on, when Robbie walks up to the table.
"Hey, do you know where Wendy is?" he asks, looking around.
"She's outside working the ticket booth with Dipper." you tell him.
Robbie's slight smile melts off his face. He narrows his eyes at you. "You're messing with me."
"I'm not." you tell him. You gesture behind you, towards the window where you have a clear view of the two kids working. Dipper and Wendy are laughing at something, which only makes Robbie's reaction better.
"Whatever." he mutters, and disappears into the crowd.
