Chapter8 – Unfair game

"Isshe dead? That whore, is she dead?" The sheriff ate a chicken whileSir Guy of Gisborne left his own plate untouched. He didn't want tolie to the sheriff of Nottingham knowing if his master found out thetruth he would share his servant's fate.

Gisbornecouldn't speak of her new life at his own estate and sighed instead. He said no word but it seemed enough for the older cruel man whichGuy knew the sheriff truly was. He still followed the man's ordersfor his own good, a title and position.

"Itake this as a yes. Sad. She looked fairly but those can be the mostdangerous like... the woman who fools you" He didn't have to say aname. Gisborne knew the sheriff was speaking of Lady Marian who wasin his heart but out of reach as soon as his dream at night ended.Marian might knew what he felt for her. She might also knew of hisintention to marry her but she never spoke about it. He was cut offeverytime he cursed Robin Hood and knew too well the outlaw was morein her favour than Sir Guy himself.

"Whenwill you ask to marry her so this foolish game stops? She will sayno, you will hate her and we all go back to duties" The sheriff ateloudly and showed no manners.

"Whenthe time comes she will accept my hand" Gisborne knew he was tryingto convince himself and still had hope to marry the woman of hisdreams.
