Chapter41 – John's mission
Johnreturned to camp and was angry with himself. He smashed plates andruined Much's dinner. When he got everyone's attention he finallyspoke and sighed. "Lily... she was taken by Isabella. They took herto the castle of Nottingham. We have to get her out and if no one ofyou comes with me then I will go alone"
"Howcould you let her take Lily?" Guy took his sword but Alan held himback before hurting John. Robin took his sword as well but walkedpast his friends. "Well, come on. Lily is one of us. We get herout... all together"
Hismen agreed and they made to the castle. Through safe passages theygot in and Alan and Guy led the way to the sheriff's chambers whileJohn and Tuk went downstairs to the dungeons. "Lily? ... Lily? Weare here. We came to rescue you"
"Whatare you doing?" Tuk whispered like John who kept going until hereached the last cell and found lying on the ground. She had blood onher dress but not too much. Isabella had slapped her and scratchescaused by the sheriff's ring were all over Lily's face.
Thegirl didn't move but Tuk was sure she was still breathing. "Whenyou look at her her body is slowly moving. It's a sign she isbreathing. She is still alive but we have to be quiet now. If anyoneknows we are here we are all in danger... Lily too"
Johnnodded and gave his stick to the monk before he turned to the cell'sgate. "On three you get her out... 1... 2... 3"
Johnused all his strength to break the cell's gate. Like a parent woulddo all for their children, John broke a way free for his girl and Tukquickly carried her outside. He carried Lady Gisborne back to thesecret passage while John looked left and right to see if any guardswere following them.
Hewas willing to fight everyone who got too close to the girl but noguard seemed to take notice of them.
Itwas outside the castle when Tuk stopped and looked back. "What ifthey caught Robin? We can't just run and leave him in danger"
"Wehave to take Lily back to camp. She is hurt and needs to rest" Johninsisted to go back but Tuk decided differently. He left John and thegirl to run back to his leader while John waited for Lily to wake up.
