The morning was still a little cool but Noah was standing outside wearing only his black tank top and pants. His hands were hanging loose by his side and his head was down, looking at the damp ground around his feet. Your husband didn't turn around when he heard you walk up to him. He knew you were there and you knew he had been waiting for you. When you slipped your arms around his waist and laid your head on this back, he didn't move.
"I'm still mad at you." He said quietly.
"Is there anything I can do to change that?" You said playfully and bumped your hips against his butt."Throw away the pills." He finally turned and looked at you.
"I know you wanted us to have kids right away, Noah." You pleaded. "But we're still young and there are so many things we want to do. Like travel and..." You hesitated. "Like getting a real cabin built instead of living in an old chicken coop."Living in the coop was a sore spot for both of you. The first time he had brought you to Browntown and shown you where he lived, you tried to act like it was ok, but inside you were more than a little shocked. He explained it was only temporary. But you and Noah had been married for six months and were still living in the small stuffy chicken coop. So many things had taken priority over building the cabin, so you had made this decision on your own.
"When were you planning to tell me?" Noah's jaw was set.
He folded his arms across his chest and you ran your hand along the large dragon tattoo on his right arm. You loved that tattoo. It was the sexy surprise that awaited you every night when Noah would take off his long sleeved shirt and get ready for bed.
"I wasn't going to tell you at all." You admitted honestly. "I was simply going to stop taking them when you started building our cabin."
"And you didn't think I would want to know that?" Noah's eyebrow shot up and your heart sank."I want your babies, Noah." You blurted out.
"My babies?" He frowned and looked down at you."I want your babies, our babies, whatever, Noah. You know what I mean. I do want everything you want and everything you have. I want all you have to give me. I just thought we needed a little more time to prepare."
He looked sideways at you, his blue eyes angry but already softening.
"I understand that. But you can't made decisions for us without talking to me first. If you want everything I want, then you have to know that. I want us to decide things together. No surprises between us."
You had thought it was a small thing. Something that you didn't think he would really object to if he found out. It made so much sense to wait before quickly having children. But you began to see that to him, wanting everything Noah wanted and everything he wanted to give you meant choosing him and including him in everything you did and every decision you made.
You had always been an independent girl and you knew getting married meant making compromises. And you were willing to do that because you loved Noah so much and couldn't imagine living without him. But did that mean you had to lose yourself to keep him? And what about what you wanted? Where did that fit in with Noah's idea of marriage?
"I want you to be happy and I want you to have everything you want. Everything you deserve." Noah's hand went to your face and his lips met yours briefly. "But if we're going to do this right and be happy, we have to talk things out and decide things about us, together."
Looking into Noah's eyes, you recognized how hard it was for him to say those words. He was also independent and stubborn and would argue with you for hours to get his own way. That strength and persistence was one of the things you loved about him. So if he was willing to compromise on this, then so were you.
"OK. Here's what I want. I want a cabin for our babies to live in." You pressed yourself tight against him and kept your eyes on his.
"And I want babies to live in that cabin. So no more pills, ok?" There went that eyebrow again.
"Alright. No more pills. I want your babies.""Umm Hmmm." Noah hummed with a sarcastic tone.
"Seriously, I do. Do you want me to beg you?""Well...yes, a little bit." He nodded and stepped back, hands on his hips, his feet spread.
"You mean now?" You asked with a laugh.
"Yes. I'll wait."You bit your lip to try not to laugh at your husband. You loved him but you knew he would play this game to the end. Sighing loudly, you shook your head. Noah grinned as you went down on both knees in front of him, hands folded as if in prayer.
"Please, Noah." You begged with sad, sincere eyes. "Please let me have your babies."
He threw his head back and laughed. "Why is there no one else around to see this??"
"I love you and I want to have six, seven, no – eight of your babies! All at once!" You exclaimed.
"Oh, get up." His laugh was enough and you knew you had won.
Noah pulled you up to him and his arms wound tight around you. Your hand went instinctively to the dragon tattoo on his arm and you stroked it gently with your finger.
"No more secrets between us?" It wasn't really a question. But when you hesitated, he looked closely at you. "What?"
"Well..." You began and slid your gaze away from Noah's direct look.
"What did you do?" He said with narrowed eyes.It would be easier to show him than to tell him. You began to unbutton your shirt as Noah's eyes grew wide. When you pulled your arm out of the sleeve, revealing your matching dragon tattoo, you watched your husband's face carefully. He stared down at the tattoo and then back up at you, his smile widening.
"Copycat." He said, the admiration clear in his voice.
"I told you, Noah. I want everything you want and everything you have. And everything you want to give me." Your free hand slipped down and gently caressed the top of his thigh. Your sexy smile told him what else you wanted.
Noah turned you by your shoulders and began leading you back to the coop.
"Then come with me, my dear. I have something I want to give you."
