You peeked out the side window and Noah was still there.

"Just great..." You mumbled and rolled your eyes to the ceiling.

Seeing the movement in the window, Noah tilted his head and caught your gaze an instant before you snapped your head away.

"Please go away...please go away..." You chanted silently.

"I'm not going away." Noah said plainly and clearly.

Your eyes opened wide and you slapped a slightly pizza-stained hand over your mouth. Could this guy read minds? Well, If he wasn't going away, then you guessed you would have to deal with him head on.

Maybe a big frown and a sharp answer would make him go away and forget he had seen way more of you than you had expected to show him. You made a quick check that your zipper was up, your pants were snapped and your sweater was down over your round belly. You would be ruthless. You would be cold. You would kick him off your porch like he was a crazy ex-boyfriend out on parole. Summoning as much righteous indignation as you could, you inhaled a deep cleansing breath and opened the door.

"I'm so sorry I slammed the door in your face." So much for cold and ruthless.

You smiled up at Noah's blue eyes. What was it about those eyes that made you go weak in the knees and stole your resolve? Vision of all sorts leaped into your mind as you stared at him and he stared at you.

In your mind's eye, Noah would be so overcome with passion for you that he would grab you by the shoulders and press his lips to yours. His hands would fly around your waist and he wouldn't care that you were a big girl and that his hands would just barely meet behind you. He would press himself tightly to you and whisper that you were exactly the girl he was looking for; that when he held you he wanted to feel soft flesh and not stiff bones.

Noah leaned forward toward you. His smile widened and his blue eyes crinkled in the corners. His hand reached out for you and your mouth dropped open in surprise. It was going to happen. Your dream was really going to come true! As Noah brought his hand up to your face, you waited breathlessly to feel his rough hand stroke your soft cheek. Breathless wasn't just an expression right then; you literally couldn't breathe as his thumb gently rubbed against the side of your mouth.

"You've got a spot of food right there." Noah said as he rubbed the pizza sauce away from the side of your mouth.

If there was a gaping hole full of fire and lava, you wanted to find it and lower yourself into it. Not inch by inch, but fast, like pulling off a Band-Aid. You wanted to burn up quickly in a pizza-scented blaze and never have to face Noah Brown again. You glanced around the room and snuck a glance over Noah's shoulder to the street outside. Nope. No fiery hole anywhere to be seen. "Damn."

"Thank you." You said aloud and decided to push on and pretend your face wasn't beet red with embarrassment. "What can I do for you, Noah?"

"My motorbike blew a tire just outside. I was wondering if I could borrow some tools from you to fix it."

Noah's voice was soft and confident and you found yourself a little lost in the cadence of his words. There was a quality about it that made you feel comfortable but excited at the same time. But maybe it was just the smile that was truly exciting you. For the first time, you noticed that he hadn't stopped smiling at you since he opened the door.

But you shook your head to push away the thought. It was possible that he might want to spend time with a plus-sized girl, but the longer you stood staring at him, the more of your confidence drained away. He wouldn't want a girl who couldn't even fit into her biggest stretch jeans. That didn't make any sense at all.

"Sure, Noah. Come on in and I'll get the toolbox for you."

You turned your back on Noah as he stepped through the door. It didn't matter anymore if he saw your ample backside as you walked away. You were sure you weren't the kind of girl he wanted anyway. So what did it matter?

From behind you, you heard Noah say thank you and you heard the door closing behind him. Taking one step toward the kitchen where you kept your tools, you had forgotten all about your shin that you had banged hard against the coffee table only minutes before. But your shin hadn't forgotten. When you put your weight down on your right leg, the pain that shot up from toe to hip made you cry out, stop in your tracks and immediately reach down to grab at the painful bruise.

You knew a split second before it happened that your "night of embarrassments" wasn't over.

When you stopped short and bent over, Noah didn't have any time to react. Standing so close behind you, he couldn't stop in time. His hips slammed into your butt and his hands grabbed at your hips, trying to stop his momentum. But you were bent so far over and his left foot snagged on your sore right leg and you yelped again in pain. Noah let out a sound that was halfway between a grunt and a scream as he lost his balance and then the two of you fell to the floor with a thud.

"Uhhhhhhhh." Your long drawn out "Tina Belcher" moan was perfect because all you wanted to do right then was to use your good leg and push and slide yourself slowly under the nearest table.

Noah hadn't said a word and you knew he was lying awkwardly on his back witih one hand trapped under your back, his fingers tantalizingly close to your breast. You wanted to roll over and release his hand, but then again, you didn't.  But he was so quiet you were starting to think you had landed on him and killed him. Your heart ached at the possibility. If you weren't fifty pounds overweight, maybe he would have survived!

When you first felt the shaking coming from Noah's chest, you were relieved. Then the shaking continued and you began to think he had hit his head and was having some type of seizure. As you rolled over to face him, aware that you were rolling directly into his arms, you saw his grin. Noah was laughing. His smile was so wide and his head was thrown back as he laughed. You blinked at this beautiful man and simply stared at him.

"That was fun." Noah said between chuckles and didn't try to move away.

"I can't believe that just happened." Your eyes flicked from his blue eyes to his beautiful smile and you hoped that moment would never end.

"Are you ok?" He asked and finally moved to sit up.

"I'm fine. What about you?"

Noah sat up and looked closely at you and his smile dimmed just a little. Your heart began to beat in your chest, afraid he was going to find something else to tell you that would embarrass you again. Swallowing a lump of hurt that had already formed in your throat, you steeled yourself for whatever he had to say.

"You are really beautiful." Noah said quietly and your heart stopped in your chest.
