Chap. 8-The Cool Rule the School

I could hear the roar of the bloodthirsty crowd as they shoved past us. The crowd was growing restless as Todd Jones (Defense in football) lifted Jeremy Rodgers ( A newbie) by the collar and off his feet. Todd Jones was buff, Dirty-blond, Tan and Popular. While, Jeremy Rodgers was scrawny, Brown-haired, skinny and pale white. His lip was bleeding and he looked like he was about to cry.

I felt so bad for Jeremy. He should have made more friends instead of sitting in the back of the class and look out the window. Now he was a targeted by the jocks. He broke Rule #1.

There are a set of rules you have to know to be able to survive the halls of Avalon high. If you don’t follow the rules you’ll be squashed by the Popular, Perfect and pretty people. I’m not even making these things up. This school is like a kingdom and it is ruled by kings and queens (The cheerleaders, Jocks and pretty people in general).

The popular crowd tends to stick to their cruel and punishable reputation. They set out these terrifying punishments for all who chose to affect the balance of the high school universe and try to set things differently. They have pity and have zero tolerance for rule breakers.

If you go to Avalon long enough you will learn the rules by heart like me:

1)      If you are new to this school you MUST find a click to be part of before your first week here ends and make at least two friends…if you don’t, you will be forever known as ‘newbie’ or ‘the new kid’ or ‘that loser’.  PS. It is considered very bad to be called ‘Newbie’ in Avalon high because the jocks will come after you if they think you don’t have any friends.

2)      You MUST (I repeat, MUST) never get in the way of a Person who has high status unless if you have prestige yourself (Like archer and my big brother Brian). The POP’S hate it when you screw up their ‘Catwalk’ and you will severely punished if you do.  P.s the ‘catwalk’ is what the kids at school call ‘Talk the talk, walk the walk’.

3)      NEVER ever in your dear life stand up for someone the POP’S target. Not even if the poor victim is being shoved down a toilet or into a locker. If you break this rule I grantee you’ll be their next target.

4)      Pretty people are who make up the POP’S crowd. So pretty/gorgeous/cute people are respected and usually never punished for breaking a rule. Like for example; Sadie is pretty and is never given a punishment. And she breaks ALL the rules all the time.

5)      If a POP ever walks up to you and invites you to A) A party B) A Sleepover C) A study Date or to sit at their table DO NOT turn them down. In fact, you should be begging them on your knees to invite you. If you ever turn a POP down you’ll be targeted for the rest of your pitiful high school existence.

6)      If you are A POP yourself and are related to a complete loser you CANNOT talk to he/she in public and even talk about them to your cool friends. You must ignore them or you will lose your prestige. For example; Brian can’t talk to me in school unless if he wants to tease me. Plus, it’s not like anyone knows Brian has a younger sister.

7)      If you Narc ; you die.

Snitching on a POP could get your reputation destroyed. Snitching on a POP could get you targeted and tortured. It is the worst thing you could ever do in your life. Four years ago there was this junior named Trinity Barnes who went to A POP’S Party and was supposedly raped by Drew Favre (A senior and the schools linebacker). So anyways she narced on him and told the police the whole thing. Drew was arrested and hauled to prison but his friends didn’t forget him and wanted revenge on trinity. So they ‘Kidnapped’ her and tortured her mentally or whatever for like 3 hours.
