So, the first few classes were very interesting. Beatrix and I had lunch together and it was working out smoothly until I heard Andrea's obnoxious voice, "Go back to the dungeons that you belong to you witch," she says as she taunted me but I just ignored her and all of her remarks. If I were to be a witch, I'd turn her into a horse, I laughed softly at the thought as I found Beatrix. She seemed to be in a good mood, "Guess what?" she asked and before I could even say what, her grin widened, "I met a cute guy." she says in an exciting tone.
I didn't want to sound rude so I joked and responded, "Is he a senior?" I smirked as she plays hitting me on my shoulder as we walked into the lunch line. The same disgusting scent that they call "lunch." I grabbed a caesar salad while Beatrix grabbed a salad as well. Finding a table wasn't going to be easy. It never is, never was usually. Then Beatrix tugged at my shirt, "He's here!" she exclaimed, "He has the same lunch as us and everything about him is just perfection." she sighed happily.
I rolled my eyes, "Guess we could ask him if we could sit with him?" I say to her as she dragged me along with her. The then tall, masculine boy looked up from his presumed Gameboy advance gaming device as he stood up and looked up at Beatrix, "Hey Bee." he smoothly says as he pulled up three chairs at his table. Beatrix then introduced me to him, "Alex, this is Tabitha and Tabitha, this is Alex." I gave him a small smile and a small wave as he chuckles, "Nice to meet you too. Hope you ladies don't mind Derek, he's sitting with us as well." With that being said, this Derek guy walked over to our table.
I could tell he was nervous. He looked about a sophomore. As he was walking over towards our way, one of the jocks from Andrea's table tripped Derek causing him to trip and land right onto his lunch. Without thinking, I go over to help him.
"Watch where you were going!" chuckles one of the jocks.
"Oh, look, Tabby the Witch decided to help Derek the Warlock!" taunts Andrea.
I could hear the taunts from Andrea and all of her jock friends. I didn't let it bother me. Not this time. With that I helped Derek up, I walked him over to our table. "Pick on someone your own size!" He would yell out at the jocks including Andrea, but they just laughed and mocked him.
"Thank you for the help," Derek said calmly. I smiled softly as I gave him some napkins to clean up with. As he cleaned himself off and lets out a soft groan, "One day they are going to pay." he says to Alex. Alex chuckled softly, "Don't get ahead of yourself Bruce Wayne." Derek laughed about it then finally looked at Beatrix and me, "I'm Derek by the way. Derek Martin." he said confidently.
I held out my hand, "I'm Tabitha and this is my best friend Beatrix." I smiled as Derek took my hand and shook it, "Pleased to meet you ladies." he said, looking at me and Beatrix. Turns out not only were we the weird group but we all had something in common, being outcasts.
Alex was the tough guy in our group. He made good grades but he was always ended up in the principal's office because of his lies. He was also a junior (Beatrix always had a thing for older guys). Derek was the nerd in our group. His favorite superhero was Batman. He made straight A's, is in college dual enrollment classes, and had perfect attendance since elementary school. Turns out he is a sophomore. Beatrix was the type of girl who would dye her hair every other week but she finally gave up after 8th grade and dyed it the brightest blonde a week before school started. She had a big mouth but she always told me one day she wanted to be a protestor. She was a vegetarian and against people who like to wear animal products in the fashion world. And then there was me, Tabitha, I was the down to earth type of person in our group. I dyed my hair the same red auburn hair color because it brought out my personality. Same with my clothes. I was also the only child in our group and the only one without a mom.
I guess my mom will never know how my first day of high school went. Or get to meet my friends that I met today. We were like The Breakfast Club but we didn't care what other people thought of us. We were us and that's all that matters. We stood up what we thought was right. We became close friends that lunch period but unfortunately lunch was over and was time to go back to reality and go back to the rest of classes that day. We then agreed to meet up in the morning before the bell rang for homeroom, at lunch and then after school to walk home. It was the perfect plan for the next day.
