Klaus's POV
Chapter 18: Turning Point
I walk into my house to find Rebekah on the couch, alchohol in hand. "Get up. We're leaving." I command.
She places her hand on her hip defiantly. "What?! But we only just got here!" She argues stubbornly. I scowl, heading into my room, Rebekah trails behind me.
"We no longer have a reason to stay, Rebekah." I growl. "Is that it, then? You just don't want to be alone? Lacey ditched you because you took the very last part of her humanity, and now you're just going to pack up and leave? Mikael is dead! What more could you possibly want?!"
"What I want is to take my girl the hell out of this one pony town. But for now, what I want is to get myself out." Bekah scowls.
"Look, Rebekah either you're with me or without." She knows when I say 'without' I mean her rotting body in a box for a couple decades.
She learned that lesson long ago.
She sighs in defeat. "Where to?"
I grin. "How does New Orleans sound to you?"
Lacey's POV
It's dark. I'm all alone. I feel a cold breeze, and a shiver runs through my body. I'm obviously outside, yet there's no moonlight to guide my way. I hear a rustle behind me. Something is moving. "Hello?" I call out. Things would be so much easier if I could just see! From a heavy blow, I'm thrown off my feet, falling in the dirt.
I lay on what seems to be a forest floor. I'm breathless. Then the moon lights up the forest, allowing me to see. I turn around to face my attacker.
Klaus.
Only he doen't look like the Klaus I love. He looks like a monster. With yellow eyes and fangs, and blood dripping from his mouth. I stand my guard, ready for what is coming.
Then something catches the corner of my eye. A lake. But it's not the lake that has caught my attention, but the water, my reflection.
My eyes, they're yellow, and blood is dripping down my chin, I have fangs instead of molars.
I look just like him, like Klaus. I'm not human anymore, I'm a monster. And that scares me. I turn back to look for Klaus but he's gone, replaced with something more horrifying.
Bodies. Tons of them, piled up and bloody. Some have snapped necks, guts ripped out, missing body parts.
Did I do this? I really am a monster. I'm afraid of myself. I'm the reason a gutteral scream explodes from my throat.
Damon's POV
I sigh, running a hand through my hair. "Lacey, wake up." I whisper. "Lacey, wake up please, you sound like you're getting murdered." She gasps, waking up. Her eyes widen. Her fangs are ready, as if she's being attacked. "Damon?"
She slowly retururns back to normal, to a human form. Her breathing is heavy and labored, almost as if she'd just ran a mile.
"Are you okay?" She sighs. "Yeah. Just a bad dream."
"Are you sure?" She nods. "I'll be okay." Her breathing grows slow. Soon she's out like a light.
Lacey's POV
I sleep peacefully - well as peacefully as possible with Damon lying on top of me. I guess he stayed with me after I fell asleep.
The alarm blares. I do everything but smash it on the floor. I push Damon off of me, he lands on the floor with a thud.
I lose my balance, and fall on top of him.
"What the hell, Lace?"
I grin. "Aww, is someone grumpy this morning?" He chuckles. I stand back up, kick Damon out, and get dressed. I realized yesterday I know nothing about this town, so I decided to explore. I head out towards the door. "Wait!" Damon calls. He grabs a scarf, and wraps it around my neck.
"Perfect."
I raise my eyebrows. "Since when do you care about the way I look?" He just shrugs.
"If you see Stefan, tell him to get his bunny drinking ass back here, alright?" I tell him."You got it. Are you going be okay?" I give him a weird look. "Do I look okay? I'll be fine! Bye!" He grins.
"Bye."
I hurry off to town, I can survive another day. Right?
