Chapter 1: Ready

"Again!" Riku-Sensei demanded from the sideline of the arena.

"I'm trying! It's not that simple!". We were talking about a new jutsu I had been attempting, It wasn't working out as well as I had thought.

Currently, I was in the middle of an arena in the center of the village. It wasn't officially a hidden village, but a lot of ninjas resided here. This is where I've been training since I left the Village Hidden in the Blood three years ago. I still have horrible flashbacks about my time in the village. I may have left, but I never forgot the pain that I endure while I was there.

The town where i'm staying now is called Roanokii (Row-ann-o-kee). Throughout most of the week the town is lively and cheerful, just like any outher village, but once a week fights are held in the arena located in the middle of town. I'm the champion and it's been this way for two years.The battle I'm in is causing me a bit of distress since I'm trying to use my new jutsu on twenty ANBU level ninja and it's not working how I had planned.

Riku-Sensei was adamant about me not using my kekkai genkai against them unless I'm close to losing, which I doubt is going to happen.

I easily dodged the ninjas' attacks with an elegant grace. This was like childs play to me. After a while of avoiding them I grew bored and decided to try the jutsu on them again.

"It's okay Echo! Just finish them off and we'll work on it later!", Riku-Sensie interrupted me and shouted from the sidelines.Thank jashin he gave me the okay. I've been dying to finish this fight for ages.

I smirk at my opponents' misfortune. They all visibly flinched when they saw it.They knew that when they saw it, that it was all over.

I made the hand signs and yelled out,"Shadow Style: Shadow Hands!" Shadow hands erupted from the ground and wraped around all the ninjas' limbs and pulled them to the ground. They're finished. They should consider themselves lucky that I was in a good mood today or it woulld have gotten ugly, for them anyway.

"And the match goes to our reigning champ,Echo!" The referee called out. The crowd cheered loudly as I collected my reward money and walked over to Riku-Sensei.

"You did good Kiddo. Now let's go home." He said as he led us out of the arena.

As we walked out I glanced up at the night sky.

The nightime always did calm me, especially when there were wolves howling. I often go into the woods and howl with them. Riku-Sensei thinks i'm crazy, but I love the wolves and i've picked up alot of their habits. I even have my personaal wolf demon and all of my summons are wolves.

Riku-Sensei and I made it to the house in a few minutes. The medium sized house is nicely decorate, thanks to me. Riku-Sensei doesn't clean or decorate... At all.

I followed him on through the dor and headed upstairs towards my room. Before I could even make it all the way up the stairs I heard Riku-Sensei call out to me.

"Echo! Can I talk to you for a minute?" It must be pretty serious if he wants to talk to me in the livingroom, we hardly ever go in there.

I walked in to find him sitting stiffly in a big chair. I sit down of the couch across from him and shot him a questioning look. He looks at me sadly for a second.

"Echo, I think it's time." He told me simply. I sat there and blinked in confusion as he watched for my reaction.

"Uhh.. time for what?" I asked, completely clueless to what he was saying. He just sweat dropped at my reply.

"Remember when you first came here? You asked me to train you so you could get strong enough to join the akatsuki and get revenge. Well, I think you're ready to join them." He explained eyeing me once again to see my reaction. I sat frozen for a moment.

"The Akatsuki...." I said as a grin spread across my face.
