Chapter 21: Helping

I rolled my eyes and looked up at where the kunai came from.

"Why are you here, Sasuke?" I said in bored tone.

Sasuke chuckled and stepped out of the shadows.

"You recognized me by chakra alone. Why am I not suprised?" He said leaning against a tree.

"Cut to the chase, Sasuke. You and I both know you don't care that Riku killed Orochimaru so what is it you want from me?" I asked rubbing my temples.

"You've never looked so serious before, Echo. But it doesn't surprise me. After all you just act dense. That's all it is, isn't it?" Sasuke said raising an eyebrow with a smirk.

"Congratulations. You just figured out my biggest secret. What ever will I do now?" I said sarcastically.

We both stayed silent a moment.

"I'm still waiting for a real answer." He said simply.

I sighed. "Yes, Sasuke. I act dense sometimes but I'm always thinking and listening."

"So every stupid thing you do is an act?" He asked.

"Not necessarily. I joke around and make mistakes all the time. I'm just not stupid like I lead on sometimes. Is that all you wanted?" I stated boredly.

"No. I also want you help me." He said.

"Help you what?" I asked.

"Kill Itachi."

Silence filled the space between us.

He really is planning on killing him. His brother. Sure Itachi has done some bad things but...

"You're going though with it then? Can it not be solved civilly?" I asked breaking the silence.

"No. It can't." He stated simply.

"Very well then. I guess I'll help you. But keep in mind I will threaten, fight, and do pretty much anything else for you but I will not fight anyone in the Akatsuki. Ever." I said staring him dead in the eyes.

"Very well then. Let's get going. The other members of the team are waiting for us." Sasuke said before turning and walking away, motioning for me to come on.

This will be the death of me.
