Loriana POV

"Lori can you calm down. I've never seen you cook so much for family dinner before." My mom laughed.

"Mom you know that Rodney is coming over tonight and I have no idea how our crazy ass family will react and I'm hoping that a full stomach will make them happier." I said as I took the baked ziti out of the oven.

"You know how you dad and uncles are. They're crazy 24/7. Honey, all you can do is pray and take away all of their guns before Rodney steps in here." She said.

Right after she said that, my uncles and aunts started to pour into the dining room and I started to bring out the food, setting it on the table. I cooked pasta, rice and beans, fried chicken, and steamed vegetables. I made sure that I look cute and put together because if I get yelled at, at least I'll look cute enough to not get it to bad.

"Damn, you cooked all of this Lori?" My uncle Tyrone asked.

"Yup. Tonight is a very special family dinner. Now, before we get started, I need everyone to place their firearms in this box right here." I held up a box and started to go around the table.

With many complains and stupid comments from Uncle Ty, I managed to get everyone's guns and some blades too. Who the hell holds a gun and blade on them to go to family dinner? Only in my family, I swear.

"This is very suspicious. Hella food on the table and we had to give up our weapons." Uncle Ty said, squinting his eyes at me and my mom.

"Oh so you don't want to eat? That's surprising." Tammy snickered.

"I want to eat and I definitely know you want to eat but I was just wondering. What if something happened? We all gonna die and I'm pulling Tammy in front of me." Uncle Ty laughed. My uncle Anthony reached over and smacked him on the back of his head.

My phone vibrated in my lap and I read the message from Rodney, telling me that he is outside. I sighed and placed my phone on the table.

"I'll be right back and when I return can we all please stay in our seats and act like civil people." I requested.

"Oh she's talking bout y'all cause I always keep it classy." Uncle Ty said then took a sip from his glass of wine. I rolled my eyes and headed towards the door.

When I opened the door, Rodney was being search by the security and groomed less than amused. I cleared my through so that they could stop whatever they were doing.

"He was invited so please leave him alone." I said. The security hesitantly stepped away from Rodney and Rodney stepped into the house.

"I'm sorry about that." I apologized. He shook his head and bent down, giving me a quick kiss.

"It's cool. You ready for this?" He asked. He seems pretty ready and less nervous than I am.

"Yeah. I took away all their weapons just to be safe." I said making him laugh.

"You're tripping."

We walked down the hall and entered the dining room and it was like as if everyone looks at us at the same time and shock and anger covered every single one of my uncles and my dads faces.

I ignored the stares and sat back into my seat and Rodney sat in the empty seat next to me. It was completely silent in the room and I could feel every bodies eyes staring at us.

"Well, I guess I might as well explain why I'm here." Rodney started. "I understand if y'all don't want me to be with Loriana based on past events but I can reassure y'all that, that is never going to happen again. I realize what I did wrong and I see how I hurt Loriana. I'm not here to ask for you guys permission to date Loriana because I'm going to do it anyways. I just came to let y'all know that I am sorry and that I do love Loriana with all of my heart." Rodney said.
