Chapter 14

Loriana POV

"This place is crazy beautiful and it's about to be my home for he next for years. I'm so excited Rodney!" I squeal with excitement as I approached my dorm building.

Finally, I am moving into my dorm on the Howard University campus and I've never been so excited. I can't wait to have freedom and independence, away from Chicago and my family.

"Babe, I'm about to go to my dorm and unpack and we can meet up later, alright?" Rodney asked and I nodded. We shared a kiss but my family had to interrupt it by clearing their throats loudly.

I rolled my eyes and let Rodney leave to his dorm. I walked into mine and headed on to the elevator with my dad, Uncle Ant, Uncle Ty, Uncle T, Randy, Auntie Tammy, and Auntie Summer. I don't know why they all decided to come here but they did. All of my stuff was already shipped to my dorm room a few days ago so they should be there once I get in my room.

I exited the elevator and quickly found my room. I used the key to unlock my door and entered my room. It is set up like an apartment so there is a living room, kitchen, a bathroom, and then there's two rooms. One of the doors had s sign that said 'Jackie' so I guess that's my roommates room. I went into the other room and opened the door, happy to see that all of my stuff was there.

"Shit, I wish my dorm room was this lit when I went to college." Uncle Ty said, looking around. I don't know what he's looking at cause ain't shit up on the walls.

"I always forget that you're educated." Auntie Tammy said. Oh here we go.

"And I always forget that you're annoying but then you open your mouth and I remember." Uncle Ty replied.

"Kiss my ass Tyrese."

"Suck this dick Tammy."

"Cut that shit out. Both of y'all." Uncle Ant raised his voice at both of the grown adults arguing.

I'm gonna miss those little arguments though. Shit be hella funny and entertaining.

"I can't wait to unpack and decorate." I said, opening on if my boxes.

"You sure that you don't want to just get apartment Lori. There be some crazy things that happen in dorms and shit." My dad said.

"Dad I'm sure. Stop worrying so much." I said. He sighed and shook his head.

"Oh my-" everyone looked at the doorway to see a girl about my age standing there. She looked at everyone as if she was seeing Jesus himself.

"Hey I'm Jackie!" She said cheerfully. "You must be Loriana. So nice to meet you!" She said and gave me a hug. At least she's nice.

"Nice to meet you too. Uhm, this is my family." I said.

"Wow you have a huge family!" She said, shocked. "I moved in yesterday so my family is already gone by now." She shrugged.

"Yeah I think that mine are about to leave. Right dad? Aunts? Uncles?" I said, hoping they get the hint to hit the road.

"Damn you're rushing is out like that? I thought you would at least cry and cling on like you did your first day of preschool." Randy said making me laugh.

"Well I'm grown now." I smiled.

"Not to grown to think that I won't ship you back home if I hear about any nonsense. I just want you to know that I am very proud of you and so is your mother. We love you and know that you'll continue to make us proud." My dad said. I hugged him and he kissed my forehead.

I'm gonna miss my family a lot. I'm so use to having them around me so it's going to take some getting use to, not having them. I'm excited for the experiences I'm about to have and the different people I'm going to meet.
