Extra chapter just to say thank you!
Laurelle woke early; it was six in the morning. She normally took pride in being able to give her children their space and privacy but felt the need to sometimes check on Troye and Connor as they were quiet when they came home the night before. She didn't think it was the weirdest thing in the world though, she noticed how the boys enjoyed the silences they had together, but she was doing so because the boys didn't even look at each other at dinner when they would normally shoot each other a smile or make a goofy face and they always did so and then laughed.
She came to Troye's room and slowly opened the door to see Troye cuddled into the covers, hugging his pillow. She looked down to the air mattress to see it neatly made, but didn't see Connor. She figured he must be downstairs; he sometimes was the first to rise in the morning. She looked all over the first floor and went to check back upstairs, but the boy was truly gone even his things were gone. Laurelle didn't think it was something to worry about, she just thought it was strange that he left most likely during the night. He never left without saying goodbye but she gave the boy his space, she noticed it was certainly something he preferred.
That afternoon Laurelle wanted to have a big lunch. Shaun was just promoted at work, so she wanted to celebrate besides her modest husband saying he didn't need it. She began looking through her recipe books for what she would like to cook and bake. She then wanted Connor to be there as well, she knew she would forget to ask but she did not want to wake Troye. Soon she also figured she had never met Connor's aunt, ever. Besides the fact that he was constantly over and he was close with Troye and also Tyde and Sage. She wondered why Connor never spoke about her. She would not dare ask though in fear of what happened the first night the two met when she questioned him about his parents.
Laurelle now after going through her many recipes, she knew what she was going to make that afternoon for lunch. She also knew she wanted to meet Connor's aunt...
In the midst of her decision she looked to the clock seeing it was probably still too early to go over and ask. She made her way to her room and spent a bit of time reading and getting ready for the day ahead.
She looked back to the clock beside her and decided she better start with making lunch then. She came down stairs to find Sage and Tyde; she greeted them with a kiss each on the head, thinking Troye must still be sleeping. She got the other two kids to help with making the food. She then left Sage in charge.
"I'm just going over to Connor's house to see if he and his aunt want to come over as well."
"Okay mum," the children chirped.
Laurelle walked out down the street to Connor's house that Tyde had once pointed out to her; the breeze was warm considering it would soon be summer in Perth once again. She then came up to the door and knocked.
Considering who Connor was, or how he came off to be, he seemed to be a happy child to Laurelle. A boy who was well bought up, cared by his adoring aunt. But she was shocked for a tired, scraggly looking woman to open up the door in a gown, a sour expression on her face. She also smelled sour; the result of her extreme alcohol abuse. But Laurelle was Laurelle and was her pleasant self as always.
"Hi, I'm Laurelle," her smile still on her face, as she let out her hand to shake but the woman just took it weakly in her own and shook it pathetically.
"What do you want?" Laurelle was slightly taken aback by how rude she sounded but nonetheless still was nice.
"I live down the street, has Connor not spoken about me to you yet?" the hungover woman widened her eyes slightly.
