Connor had officially moved into Troye's apartment about two weeks ago, neither could be happier at this point and they soon fell into routine. Zoe and Alfie had been over a lot as well. In fact, the two had just been over where they all had a romantic couple's dinner together.
The night was light hearted and indeed romantic for both couples. Connor was never less than a metre from Troye the entire night and Alfie with Zoe.
Once the night had come to an end Alfie was leaving their apartment with a sleeping Zoe in his arms and leaving with a smile to both the boys who headed off to bed as well.
Both were exhausted, it had been a long week, but both were happy that things were finally falling into place, and what would hopefully stay in place. Troye had healed perfectly and no longer needed Connor to follow his every step and take care of his every need.
They both got dressed into their pyjamas and slid under the white comforter, Troye just about instantly falling asleep. Leaving Connor to study the boy's beautiful features; his plump lips slightly parted, his eyelashes resting on the fair skin of his face, his jawline highlighted slightly by the light of the moon that came through the curtains. Connor leant over to Troye and pressed a loving, lingering kiss to his temple.
Connor then went over to his side of the bed, falling asleep quickly himself as his head hit the pillow.
Both not having the need of cuddling each other every night anymore, they no longer felt that they had to hold onto each other for dear life. Connor knew he would wake up and find the boy still sound asleep beside him, while Troye knew he would wake up to empty, cold sheets but soon his senses would be filled with the scent of Connor brewing their morning coffee in the kitchen.
Their universes seemed to have finally aligned.
.~.~.~.
Connor started to stir in his sleep, waking up since he could feel Troye restlessly moving around in the bed beside him. Connor could have sworn he heard whimpers and sniffles from his boyfriend.
The older boy opened his eyes fully now, glancing over to the digital clock on his bedside table.

Connor soon figured as to why Troye was so restless, a strong thud soon rang through his ears and throughout the apartment, he also now became aware of the strong winds pushing against the wall and the harsh rain pelting against the windows.
A thunderstorm.
Connor sat up and shuffled beside Troye. He could tell Troye was desperately trying to block out the noise while he hid his head under his pillow to attempt to muffle it, not succeeding. Connor then placed his hand gently on Troye's shoulder, ending up in the boy jolting.
"Shh, hey it's just me," he said gently. "You still afraid of thunder storms aren't you, T?" he asked with concern, running his hand over the younger boy's shoulder.
Troye removed the pillow, soaked in tears, and proceeded to turn over onto his side to bury his face into his boyfriend's bare chest, wetting his skin with hot tears.Connor thought back to the memory that he couldn't help but let his mind replay,
"Shh Troye, it's all going to be okay. I'm here." He held the trembling boy in his arms, hoping Troye would be lulled to sleep in his embrace and with his gentle hushing.
"I'm s-sorry Con," Troye said, interrupting Connor's thoughts, guilty that he had to wake the boy up.
Connor held him tightly while as a particularly harsh strike hit, Troye trembled in the boy's strong arms. Connor hushed the boy gently, whispering sweet nothings into his ear. The storm was starting to fall into into the distance, but the rain still fell heavily.
