Chapter 31

We all sat around the table outside of In-N-Out. It was a day off today, so we just went around shopping and stuff. "Alright kids, calm down." Justin: "Uh, Scooter, most of us are 18 now. We're not kids." Scooter scoffs. Scooter: "Not kids, my ass." I laughed and poked Justin's cheek when he started to pout. Scooter: "Anyway, we've got some business to talk about." Justin squeezed my hand and smiled. I was actually happy that that weird phase from yesterday was gone... For now. Scooter: "Well, the label and I have been talking... And the label thinks that you two should-" Justin: "WE'RE NOT BREAKING UP!" He jumped up. Scooter: "... Make a music video." Justin: "Oh..." He sat back down. Justin: "Well that's cool... What song are we doing?" Scooter flipped through some papers. "That Should Be Me." Justin nodded. Justin: "Cool. But.. Who's gonna be the other dude? Y'know, that 'I should be'?" Scooter looked at Ryan and Chaz. Chaz: "As much as I would like to, can't. I'm with MariCris." He put his arm around her. We all looked at Ryan. "Okay.. That'd be fun. As long as it's okay with Justin..." Justin looked uneasy. "You okay?" He nodded. Justin: "I'll, uh, be right back." He stood and walked back to the bus. He's been "BRB"ing a lot lately...

I stood there patiently, waiting for my turn in the makeup chair. I laughed when Cary put blush on Justin. "Not funny, Mels." "To you!" I laughed harder. Cary: "Justin sit still before I put eyeliner on you!" We laughed at him. She put a little more makeup to hide a pimple on his chin then spun him around. "Voila!" He pshhh'd, glared at me playfully, then stood up. Justin: "Your turn, sexy lady." He winked. Cary: "You're not allowed in here, Justin." His jaw dropped. "What?!" Cary: "Orders from Scooter. You got a problem, you go talk to him." Justin: "But-" Cary: "Bye." She pushed him out and locked the door. I laughed as I took a seat in the chair. Me: "Did Scooter really tell you he's not allowed?" Cary: "Nope." She grinned, with the eyeliner in her mouth.

"HOT DAMN!" Justin whistled when I came out of the dressing room. "Oh shut up." I laughed and squished my hand in his face. Marina, a stylist Scooter hired for me, dressed me up in a white v-neck that read "Je t'aime" diagonally across my torso in purple cursive letters, jean shorts, and black gladiators. Bracelets filled my right wrist and Justin's "Jelly" necklace hung on my neck. Cary curled my hair a little, so I guess I did look pretty. [Bahaha Idk if that's 'pretty' to you, but YUHH. I know nothing about fashion... O.o] Justin: "Can I marry you?" I rolled my eyes. Me: "For my looks, no." I grabbed an apple off the snack table and walked off towards the set. Yep. We're already starting the video even if Scooter just told us we'd be shooting this morning. He can set things up pretty fast. Justin: "But-" Scooter: "Alright! Everyone, there's a little change in plans.. We've decided to just do a photo shoot, then we'll start shooting the video later in the day." He clapped his hands once, then Justin and I were pulled into a different room in the building. "Hands." Justin glared and dusted himself off. Scooter came in shortly after. Scooter: "Okay you two. This is Jimmy. Just listen to him, and you'll be fine." He raised an eyebrow at Justin. Justin: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. I've done this a billion times." Me: "Superstar much?" I laughed. FLASH. That better not be a surprise picture. Jimmy: "That was a good one. I wanna get some natural shots.. You know, like, just you two talking and being yourselves." We nodded. I pushed Justin over. Justin: "Hey what was that for?" Me: "I felt like doing it." I smirked and crossed my arms. Flash. Ugh. Imma be blind by the time this ends.. We did a little more "natural" things, then Jimmy took us out back. Jimmy: "Alright, these photos'll be for the promotional video.. Melani, sit down on this wall and Justin, stand in front of her and act like you're giving these flowers to her." Justin rolled his eyes but did as told. Click. Jimmy: "Okay now Justin, sit by her and act natural again. Y'know, arm around her, smiling, laughing, etcetera." He nodded and slithered his arm around me. Justin: "So, how's life? Pretty good? Good. Y'know, I was thinkin'... Since today's our day off, how 'bout we go out later.. Just the two of us..." I smiled and kissed his cheek. Me: "Jimmy said act natural, not go all "Hey shugahh, what're you doin' tonight?" I nodded my head up and laughed. He chuckled. Justin: "This is natural.. I wanna go on a date with you." He had a weird look in his eyes.. Like yesterday, he seemed... Sad. But I didn't frown. I didn't want him to think that I was upset by that... Anyway, we did a few more shots, then went back inside to do more posing photos.
