#24 Two from Afar

Kuroko's POV

It's been a few days after the game practice between Seirin and Kaijou. But eventhough we won the game, we still have a long way to go as a new team. Winning one game against one of the Kiseki no Sedai isn't enough for us to win the Inter High championship. So coach told us to come early to today's practice, and she seems very excited all the way. All the other teammates especially the senpais looked quite anxious though. I don't know why but I just shrug every negative thoughts that could possibly happen today from my head.

"Oi, Kuroko... Kuroko!"

"Hm?"

"Don't just 'Hm' me! I was talking to you, stupid. Can you at least response something instead of 'Hm'?"

A loud voice kept calling me impatiently which made my eyes averted from the japanese literature book in my hand. I looked up reluctantly and found Kagami-kun leaned against my desk with a frown plastered on his face. He seemed to be irritated cause all I did was ignoring his loud call and having fun with my book.

"Sumimasen. I was carried away back there... So, what did you say again?" I asked with a flat face as I closed my book.

Kagami-kun huffed and crossed his arms in front of his chest, "It's about the transfer student rumors these days. I don't know why but I kept feeling anxious about this. Plus, coach's behavior today was a bit terrifying y'know. It's making me uncomfortable for God's sake..."

"Why are you so scared about it?" I sighed and rested my chin on my palm as my eyes narrowed towards the outside view, "Besides, it was just rumors. So please don't get yourself easily fooled by it. And about coach, I think there's a chance that she has another reason to act a bit different today. Not because of a new practice method for the team." I added.

"Ugh, man why are you acting so calm? You don't seem very enthusiastic about this either. I mean, c'mon that rumor already spread in the whole school. Even some of them said that the transfer student is from America!" Kagami-kun pouted irritably.

"So??"

"What do you mean 'So'? Hey Kuroko, it's America we're talking about here. What if the rumors were true and that student really is from America?!" Kagami-kun suddenly raised his voice tone in excitement towards me as he slightly shook my shoulders.

"Then I'll be happy to ask that person to teach me English."

"Oi, stupid. Are you trying to play around right now?"

"No."

The red head just let out a deep irritating sigh thanks to my reactions. He held his temples as he took the nearest chair and sat across my desk. He pouted, "Okay listen. Kuroko, 'AMERICA'. The birth place of basketball. Soooooooo there's a slight chance that transfer student is a basketball athlete. And if that happens, we can ask that person to join the team!"

"If the rumors are real though." I replied bluntly with an expressionless face. I paused for awhile as I averted my gaze back to the outside view. My mind was wondering around, cause there's something more important for me to think about right now. And those rumors were actually reminded me of that.

"I'm actually quite curious about that rumor. Whether it's true or not." I replied nonchalantly, only to receive a confused look on Kagami-kun's face.

"Heee.... I really can't figure out what's going on in your head behind that poker face."

"Ah, Kagami-kun... The teacher is coming." My eyes widen for a second as I pointed my index finger towards the classroom door which made Kagami-kun flinched.

"Huh???? Oh crap! Gotta go back to my seat!"
