CHAPTER FIVE : RIVALS BUT FRIEND.

I couldn't help but groan again.

I think fast for an escape from what was happening and decided to call Alec.
Yes,he was standing beside me but it was necasssary.

Alec just looked at me like I was mad.

oh well I just hope he understands.

Elara was there.

Then abruptly Alec spoke up.

"I have an important call. Be right back El." He said and went off before Elara coupd even think of a reply.

"Wait...alright be back fast thought," she said.

"Mel!Mel! Okay I know you are going to kill me for not telling you sooner but-"

I rudely interupt my pretending to have a coughing fit.

well,arn't you charming.

it comes with the job love,comes with the job

'Ill-cough-wi-cough-ll-be-cough-rig-cough-ht back" I say and quickly made my way to the nearest food table to pretend I was getting water.

Thanks to the crowd Elara couldn't see me.

I took my phone out and called Alec again.

"Mel,whats up?" He asked from the otherside.

"Okay listen We.have.a.mission. Alright?
Distract Elara get her far away from mudskipper and ke-

"who's mudskipper?"

-I'll tell you okay!? Now listen! Keep her busy until I call you again and tell you to come again with her"

"Alright alright but tell me later okay?"

"Will do ,will do.Bye." I said and hung up.

I watched from a distance and saw Alec already there dragging Elara somewhere.

Thats my signal to go.

I walk fast towards him and stopped.

I spoke first.

when don't you speak first?

ahmmmmm....never?

"Okay so I know you want to totally burn yourself up because I'm unfortunately your girlfriend's best friend, not that I mind.God it would be a better world without you but since I actually care unlike you I'll stop you if you try, she's my friend and she'll be heartbroken."

"Actually,I want to burn you-

"the feelings mutual,"
I interupt and continued,

"Listen I know you are not exactly on my good books and I am not either but lets make a pact alright? so we'll pretend we have no rival history between us and act like we just met alright?'
I asked.

He kept quiet for a while.

"For Elara.Please.' I said

"Fine. But that doesn't mean I don't want to stuff you into a wooden box and drown you to the bottom of the Mariana trench."

"Harsh Mudskipper."

"What did you call me?'

I was saved by the bell.

well, not really ,I was saved by Alec.

"Hey! you guys met! that's great!" Elara said as she followed behind Alec.

Alec raised his eyebrow at me asking if stuff worked out and I nod.

'Yeah we just met." He said

"Mark, so she's the one I talk about, you'll totally like each other when you guys get to know each other more." Elara said.

Both of us coughed at the same time.

oops.

I mouth 'do something' at Alec when Elara looked away.

we were talking about a million things all at once.

"Guys why don't we get some food?"

way to go brainy arse.

actually, well done smart arse

I mean food is definitely the solution to everything.

"you guys go ahead I'm staying here. I'm like, dead tired." Elara declared.

God, I felt like shit. she.must have worked so hard to pull this.

"Thanks again El, this is amazing.I will make up to you." I say.

"That's fine Mel."

"Im staying with Elara you guys skiddadle from here." Dr.Mark David (being formal on purpose here proves how much I Hate him.) said.

We nod and We went off.

"Tell me now, what the hell was that about?" Alec asked.

"See,Mark is my doctor in charge.I hate him he hates me we never ever get along.He totally tries to rule me because he is-correction was the youngest doc till I came along. He hates me for that so the jealous pig loads me up with work and has somehow convinced the bloody managment to give me little leaves as possible."I say without a pause. All the contained anger at that time just burst out. I mean I actually dreamt of killing him last night. seeing him alive and standing just like that was impossible.

"hey kettle! chill Mel, I get your anger. so what did you tell him?

"To go lock himself into a wadrobe so that I can burn it and then scatter the ashes on his bloody desk."

Alec raised his eyebrow

I sigh"fine.I told him that we stay neutral when Elara's around."

"Smart of you."

"Of course,its me right?"

Alec smile at me. It was the sort of smile he gave me when we were younger ,when I used to groan over physics and swear to burn the book but end up hugging it because I loved the subject no matter what.

That smile that spoke so.much.

He shakes his head and say,
"Come, lets get food.
Because food solves everthing." He finish with a evil smile.

Touchè.
