CHAPTER SIXTEEN : LIFE IN A TEACUP

Mel waved at the approaching figure of her friend.

He arrived at the table after noticing her.
"To what do I owe the pleasure of meeting you, dear friend?" Alec gestured as he took a seat opposite Mel.

"Dude, you talk like I only call you out to ask for a favour."

"Of course you don't, what I meant is you calling me out on a day when you not only have to work morning hours but also the night shift."

"Oh that. well, it's an emergency."

"So, so whats up?"

"Well, I met Sky."

"Come again? You met Sky?How is he?"

"That's the problem."

"Why,is he not around?"

"Frankly and simply put," Mel started after a deep breath,
"He's in an active coma ; it's a situation where you are not in a coma but you are in oblivion. You can move and stuff but it as if your mind is not exactly alive."

"Whoa,whoa wait.too much info. so you're telling me that he's in this sort of oblivion mode? But why? what happened?"

Mel shook her head,
"I have no idea, apparently it started suddenly a few years ago and progressed."

"What did his family say, did they consult any doctors?"

"His mum said they did consult doctors,10 of them actually with no positive result."

Alec sighed,
"Maybe they are missing something."
To which Mel nodded.

He continued,
"So what do you plan to do?"

"I was thinking of helping him? I'm not sure,but I have to do something. what do you think?"

Alec rubbed his chin in thought,
"I'd say go for it, you have an advantage over all the previous docs afterall, since you were his best friend."

Mel silently nodded and sighed.

"True that but maybe it doesn't matter. Alright then, I'll do that. Thank you Alec, I didn't exactly have anyone to ask about this."

Alec smiled comfortingly,
"Hey, hey it's okay,breathe. it'll be alright. you finally found him, yes? It'll only get better." Alec reassured Mel with a smile.

Mel sighed and nodded slowly.

Jangu was meowing so loud, Mel woke up without much effort and turned her head to see the ball of fur staring at her intensely.

Mel sighed in realization

Oh yeah, El had stayed at the uni to finish some work,
And you need breakfast
Mel thought.

She sighed again and got up to go give Jangu some breakfast so that she'll stop making so much noise and give her some peace.
"I Swear I can never comprehend how you get hungry so fast." Mel spoke to the Cat as if she will understand.
