CHAPTER EIGHT : DIFFERENCES

I break into a run.

There was an emergency case and I was asked to take it.

When I got into the OR my team was ready.

"Okay guys don't panic right? The case is to remove an iron rod from this patient's right side. lets get started."
I say and begin.

It was a long and hard one. The iron rod was so close to his right lung that if he hadn't been so lucky it would have been punctured.

It was going as hoped until one of the nurses informed me of his vitals.
"His beat rate is low."

I sigh.

" he's a patient of low pressure so we need to be more careful." I say.

Everyone nods and we continue.

We didn't have any diagnosis or reports as he was an emergency patient.

So only thing we could do was make the best hypothesis and work with it.

When we were done it was 3:00 pm, two hours since we started.

The patient was on IV, safely in a wardroom.

The operation was a success.

There was always such a relief when you are a doctor and operations work out.

I haven't done an emergency  surgery since internship and thought its been long, my hand automatically adjusted  to the new situation.

I guess once in a while it was nice to worry about something else besides the nervous system. I thought.

I had skipped lunch, so my stomach was screaming  colourful words at me.

So was Pixel but she was on mute.

After packing up quickly I head out of the hospital building to get home.

When I crossed the lobby I passed by someone who caught my attention.
The face was familiar but the person was gone so fast I couldn't stop her to question.

I mentally hoped to see her again and talk to her and continued walking towards the parking lot.

After getting into my car, I checked my phone for the first time all day.

02 missed calls from Ms.Pain
13 new messages from Cat

What was with her?
I thought.

I didn't check the messages instead I start the car and drive home.

I didn't immediately get home though.

I had completely forgotten  about the new house so, I first drove to the old apartment and even got out of the car when I realized that I didn't live here anymore.
I get back into the car and hit my head on the steering wheel and start the car.

What a waste of petrol how can you possibly forget the fact you bought a new house but remember 26 different names of medicines for a peanut allergy reaction?

Go back to being mute please.

Try me.

Sometimes I wonder why you even exist but I then realize you forced your way into my mind.

Pixel didn't reply..she was probably fed up of my stupidity .

Now I'm calling my self stupid.

I hit my head on the wheel again.

By the time I got home, I was too tired to think of anything.
