Chapter 6

The elevator reached the first floor. Teagen stepped out and passed Lenore's desk.
"I see you spoke to Mr. Gallows."  she said as she typed away on her Holopro.
Teagen ignored her and exited the building. She walked her way through Alifade and back to her small city. Upon reaching the familiar cobble stone steps of her house, she remembered the business card in her pocket. Teagen took it out. She stared at it then crumpled it up into a small ball. Teagen threw it into the brass drain by the sidewalk. She unlocked the door with her litelock and entered. Teagen went to her room and used the litelock to lock the door. She sat on her soft green bed and buried her face into her hands. A knock came to the door.
"Are you in there Teagen?" Naru asked.
Teagen didn't respond.
"Well...if you are in there, mom said lunch is ready." Naru said.
She ran off to the kitchen. Teagen lifted her head and got up. She unlocked the door and followed her to the kitchen. The smell of fried fish filled the room. Lore and Naru set the table as their mother placed the fish and chips on the table.
"Where is dad?" Lore asked.
"He went on an interview for a new job. He should be here in mere minutes." mother said. "I think it was for Gallows Industries."
Teagen perked her head up. That name was demonic. Sinful. And her father could be working for the man himself.
