Sitting on the plastic chair facing the great city of Manchester, with my companion by my side. It was late at night, crawling into the early hours of the morn and we gaze up to this big bright light that folds itself across the sky and pollutes the night with it's god-like brightness. Though it may still be dark, the city flows through it like big bright fireflies, contaminating the night as it passes. From a distance, the city is beautiful. All of the flashing lights and colours dancing around the streets, the buildings, the people. It's truly beautiful. Currently, I am cruising on my companions "houseboat". I inhale the cold air and take in my surroundings. Silence, all is quite here accept for the city that is thriving with life. But here, in this moment I was met with complete and utter silence as I stalk the city and it's nature.

" Don't you think the city is beautiful from this distance?" I ask my companion. I was greeted with silence, in which I accepted was his agreement.

I sighed, " There is a problem though". Once again I was greeted with silence.

I fling my arm up to emphasize my point and direct it towards the city.

I huff, " I mean truly, it is beautiful. But only from a distance. Everything looks rather beautiful from a distance, but up close..". I pause, " That's a different matter entirely".

I look down to my right and pick up the beer from the floor. I raise it to my lips and drink the bitterness, as I allow it to consume me, to cloud my mind and take away all the bad thoughts. I focus on the city.

"When you look closely, to the most beautiful things you have ever laid eyes on can be the most horrific and hold the darkest truths, that we as individuals are blinded by". I shake my head and continue, "take this city. Everyone says that this is a great city that whenever someone thinks of England this place, besides places like London or Wales. This place right here is what comes to mind. A city filled with lies and greed that consumes a person and takes advantage of them with every turn, with every building created from the greed of others. The same greed that fills our children's minds with society and all things that supposedly makes us human. Products, our lives our build and based on objects that these people build to control and maintain us. Look at them all, really look at them".

I stand up and swing my arms manically, " Look at the people of this city! Supposedly have the greatest minds of our era, yet they are brain washed. Mindless. It's like a colony of ants, we follow our Queen, but it's the cooperation's. It's within our media, our homes, our books. It's in everything. They follow everything, mindlessly. Building these false stores and businesses'. They think they are helping our children, helping society with their brands but no, no, no. They label us, they control us and they are controlled also by these concepts and laws. It's like a spell they are under, building like ants. Protecting their colony and their business. Look where it leaves people, look on the streets and see the minds of others that can't afford to live amongst them. Do you think they pay them any attention? No. To them they are invisible. They are blind to pollution, blind to homelessness, blind to the evil that corrupts them to their very core. A city filled with drugs, corrupted and evil people, can you see it? Look closely, open your eyes! Not everything is as it seems". My breathing increases as I twirl slowly, feet crossed over as I swirl around to my companion. Arms lifted to the night sky.

"This! This is what is wrong with the world! We are blind! All of us!" I exclaim. I turn back to the city and scream, " DO YOU HEAR ME! THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE WORLD!".

I stagger back and flop into the chair. My breathing ragged, my chest rising and falling fast. I was greeted by silence once more. Silence, silence, silence. Silence.

I shake my head and look towards my companion. "You're not much of a talker, are you?". He doesn't respond.

I take in his appearance for the first time. He was a fairly handsome man. Easy on the eyes, nice short golden blonde hair that was slightly thick on the top. Light blue, glazed over eyes, an olive like tan and a sharp look. Indeed very handsome, average height, nice eyes, slightly pointed ears. His eyes were slightly blood shot, unmoving. Wide open.. no light in his eyes. Unblinking. I guess the colour of his lips have turned slightly blue. I look towards his hands, they're tied together with wire. Deep, long cuts tattoo his wrists from where he struggled. Dark red trickling down his long slender fingers, dripping on to the sheet of plastic I laid out on the floor. His feet tied together the same. I look to his jaw, wide and sharp. My eyes travelled down to his long neck, a ribbon of blood is marked neatly in a line from one side to the other. A deep cut that I had carved left to right on his neck. The blade now tucked away nicely into his chest, right above his heart. His lips were slightly parted.

"Well.." I say as I stand up and stretch my arms up high, " I guess our reunion is other mate, but it was ever so lovely talking to you. I'm sorry I didn't catch your name. ". I pick my companion up and laid him down on the floor and proceeded to wrap him in the plastic sheet, being careful not to leave anything behind.

" I guess this is goodbye", I say with a bright smile as I tied him to the cement blocks and threw him into the river.

After saying my goodbyes, I walk over to the wheel and take off down the river while singing hit the road jack, by Ray Charles.

All in all, it was a good night. It was time to show my knight how loyal I can be to him, this will work to my advantage. I smiled to myself and carried on singing, as I steered around to my new location.
