I peered through the door lens and saw a figure standing. I couldn't make up how he looked like, but I can tell I don't know him.
"I don't know him." I whispered to Xavier, who was right behind me, almost against me.
"Step aside then." He pushed me gently to the side and looked himself.
He didn't say anything then he turned to me and dragged me further away from the door, so whoever at the door won't be able to hear I guess. "How good is your acting skills?"
"Why?" I asked, crunching my nose.
"Because it's them." He said like it was no big deal.
"Oh. Wow. Well... Okay then." I blabbered, don't know what to say. I looked up at him and saw him raising one eyebrow, amused.
"I used to take a drama class, guess it's coming in handy now." I ensured him, remembering his question.
"Alright, you're gonna be good facing them alone?" He smiled slightly and laid both his hands on both my shoulders in reassurance.
"What? Why? Where are you going to hide?" I slurred.
He chucked, "I'm not hiding, kitten, I'm leaving."
I shrugged off that he just called me kitten, it's not the right time for blushing right now. "Oh- Why?"
"Because they can see me. They may be stupid, but they're not that stupid, Athena." Why does he keep saying they?
"Then you should just stand where he can't see you." I suggested. Why does he have to leave? He's gonna ask me and I'm gonna tell him I saw nobody, he leaves. Why is that so hard?
"Kitten, there're four outside. One is gonna distract you while the others search the house. I can be here without you seeing me, remember?" Oh. Right. I sometimes forget he's a demon.
"And why do they need to distract me? Why can't they enter through walls and just search?" This is all a huge confusing mess up.
"Because angels can't go through walls." Angels. Angels are after him.
"So demons are stronger than angels?" I couldn't help but ask.
"You can say so. They're not that strong and they're not that smart either. Proof is I'm still free. If we make an army, we'll definitely take them down. I like to believe that's why they sent nephalems to control us. Any other questions?" He raised his eyebrows, waiting for an answer.
I do ask lots of questions, blame my curiosity.
I huffed, "Fine. Get out from the kitchen door and leave this to me." I really hope I don't ruin everything. I also hope he doesn't get caught.
"And where is that?" He looked around him, it's a huge house after all. Huge empty house.
"Go this way," I pointed to where he should be going, "Then you'll find- actually you know what? Just go through this wall and you're there. Because if you have some super-going through walls-powers, then you should use-"
"Athena?" He muttered, getting closer.
"What?"I asked confused, what does he want?
He shoved me suddenly to the wall behind me, gently this time, and caged my face with his arms. Funny how each time he leaves he has to do that.
I looked away immediately once he looked me in the eyes. He chuckled and said in a low sexy voice, "Shut up."
"What is the threat this time?" I grumbled under my breath, trying to contain my hormones. But it seems like I'm failing miserably because I can feel my cheeks flush.
