"GODDAMIT, WHERE IS IT?!" I screamed in frustration, letting the bed mattress down. I searched everywhere, where could I have possibly put it?
I took a deep breath, screaming won't get me anywhere. I need to think.
If I had something important to hide where would I hide it? Nope, I have nowhere in mind.
Let's try this again, when I was a kid where would I hide playing hide and seek?
Oh my gosh, why didn't I think of this before?! My body moved before my brain can process, I don't think I've ran this fast before in my life.
I stopped when I reached my old parent's room. I stood at the door, staring at the doorknob. Nobody dared to enter here since dad died. Not mum, not me.
But before, I had no reason to enter. This time I have.
I reached for the doorknob, a mixture of the smell of him and dirt welcoming me. Everything is still the same, untouched for three years.
I ignored everything and took a deep breath, heading to the wardrobe, I'm here for one thing and one thing only, I won't let anything distract me.
As soon as I opened it, something fell out. But it wasn't heavy or big enough to be the book.
I looked down at my leg, confused. It's a necklace. I picked it up, examining it. It's my necklace.
My dad gave this to me on my 16th birthday, the year he died. But it disappeared later on, I've searched for it everywhere, but it just dissapered.
I assumed mum threw it away, she used to get annoyed when she sees it. That's her way of coping to dad's death. Throwing everything that reminds her of him behind, the house and me included.
A grin found it's way to my face as I looked at it before putting it around my neck.
This necklace is the only thing I have left from my dad, it means the world to me. I've never been this happy to find something lost before.
I then remembered why I was here in the first place. I pushed some of the clothes to the side, the hidden square locker came in sight. It's where mum used to put her valuable jewellery in case of house robbery.
It's supposed to be a hidden place, but I was just born with the curiosity. But it paid me well, I know the locker code.
I punched in the numbers and it opened. I was right, it's here! I grabbed the book and hugged it, sighing in relief.
I ran to my room and threw a coat on and ran to the front door. But I stopped short when I realised the invisible freaks are watching all over the house, I can't just get out with the book with me.
I went and put it in a handbag, deciding on sneaking from the kitchen back door instead. I'm going to pretend I went to ask for an onion or something.
I reached the house Xavier told me about, it was right beside me. I climbed up the small stairs leading to the door, hesitating a little before knocking on it.
I'm finally gonna get my answers.
I waited at the door after knocking, expecting Lucius to open the door. But instead a woman in her 30s did, his wife maybe?
Or is it the wrong house?
"Uh, hey." I slurred, standing there awkwardly.
"Hello." She smiled friendly at me. At least she seems nice.
I cleared my throat and lowered my voice, "Is this by any chance Lucius' house?"
"Yes, it is. He should be here by now. Come in!" She opened the door wider and stepped aside for me to enter.
