Chapter 3

I headed to school that morning without an ankle wrap. Mom said I was fine without it. YAY! No more sweaty ankle wrap! I got to school and saw a boy. He had to be new! I never saw him before and he wasn't with anybody. He was super cute! Wait what!? Did I actually just think that? Oh my gosh I did!!! Jacklin Osly, stop it! I couldn't help it. I was looking at him with googly eyes. What is going on!? I have never fallen in love before in my life! Never ever! He didn't look at me. I needed to stop! I teared my eyes aways from him. What is going on with me!? Am I- am I f-falling for him? No way! This can't be! I just need to take a deep breath. I took a deep breath. It wasn't helping! I was still madly into his looks! I looked back at me. He turned his towards me. He noticed me! He smiled shyly at me. I smiled shyly at him. Then he walked over to me. "H-hi," he said. "H-hello," I said. "My name is Leon. What is yours?" he said nervously. "Jacklin," I said. "Y-you look nice," he said. "You too," I said. The bell rang. "I got to get going," I said. "Me too. Bye!" Leon said. Omg! I'm falling for him! I'm really falling for him! No way! I love him! JACKY! WHAT IS GOING ON!? I took a deep breath. Relax, Jacky. The next day Leon came up to me. "U-uh. Do y-you want to be m-my g-girlfriend?" Leon said. "U-um. I really love you, Leon, but I'm a tomboy. I'm the only girl on the football team and I'm friends with all boys. I don't know what my friends would feel like if I got a boyfriend," I said. "Jacklin. You are a girl. I'm sure your friends would be fine with you getting a boyfriend," Leon said. "I'll have to ask," I said. "Ok, Jacklin. Please get back to me," Leon said. "Don't worry. I will," I said with a smile. I sat at our round table at lunch. "Um. Guys? Do you see me as a boy?" I said. "What!? No!" Ian said. "We see you as a girl," Chase said. "As our best friend," said Jason. "We don't care that your a girl," Ryan said. "We respect you as a girl," Jake said. "W-would you be o-okay if I-I g-got a b-boyfriend?" I said. All their faces were surprised. Then I burst into tears. I couldn't help it! I had to! All the water was blubbering at my eyes. I didn't know who I was anymore! Was I a tomboy? Was I a normal girl? And also would my friends be okay if I got a boyfriend? All of my friends ran over to me and hugged me. "We are totally fine with you getting a boyfriend," Chase said. "We will be happy for you," Ryan said. I took a deep breath and stop crying. "Thank you," I said.
