"You’re in Englewood, New Jersey." He said frowning. I nodded. Good.
"No. I'm not new here." I said. He gave me a weird face. "I should probably be going." I said standing up.
"Wait! Are you sure you're okay." He said standing too. I nodded. "Well can I see you again?" He asked. I looked at myself and frowned.
He wanted to see me again? He wanted to see a girl that looks like she's been hit by a bus again? I thought about it. "I guess." I ran out the store. I didn't know where I was going now. My home was on Murray Avenue. And I couldn't go back there.
They'll find me and I couldn't let that happen.
Walking up the streets with my hood on, I covered my face the best I could so nobody could tell it was me. I didn't know where I was headed. I just kept walking. People were looking at me like if I was a bug in dress.
I don't know what I'm going to do now. I didn't know where I was going to go or stay or do. Everything seemed so unreal. Any minute I would wake up with my twin brothers jumping on my bed and the smell of bacon and eggs. I closed my eyes and opened them again. But nothing happened.
I shook my head and ran into something hard. "Ops." Said a tall grown man. "I'm sorry. Didn't see you there." He was looking down at me. Smiling. His teeth were bright and perfect. The way my mother and father had them.
The guy frowned and moved out my way. "Thank you." I mumbled. I stepped beside him and kept walking with my head down. I felt like I was walking for hours.
I came to a stop when I heard trashcans falling and people yelling. I looked around but didn't see anybody or anything. I kept walking thinking that I was just going insane when I came to an alleyway. A man was holding a woman by her hair pulling her with him. I backed away hoping he didn't see me. But he did.
"Get back here!" He yelled at me as he let go of the woman and started to run after me. I went for a run hoping my legs wouldn't give out in me. I was looking for a busy street but there where all empty. Just my luck. Everybody was inside with their families safe and sound while I was running the streets trying to get away from a stranger.
I stopped to get my breath back and looked back. He was gone. But I didn't stop running. I wasn't that stupid. I kept running until I knew I was safe.
Somehow I made my way to a lake. I sat on a rock and watched the sun go up. I haven't had a good night sleep in a while. And today I didn't even get to sleep for a little. I sat there while the sky changed colors and the streets started to get busy again.
The kids coming out to play and hang out with their friends. If my brothers were here, they will be begging me to take them out. I missed them so much. They were annoying sometimes, but I couldn't live without them.
It was impossible to do.
