“You can take the bed.” Drew said pointing at his bed.

            “You sure?” I asked.

Drew nodded. I dropped a bunch of blankets on the floor and made himself a little bed. I felt bad so I sat down on the floor.

“Are you okay?” He asked taking of his shirt and sitting down too.

“I don’t want to take your bed.” I said.

He shook his head. “I’m fine. Really.” I got up slowly and walked to his bed. “Go head.”

I sat down on his bed and turned to face him. I brought my feet up and laid back. “Thank you Drew.” I said.

“You don’t have to thank me.” He said.

And I knew I didn’t. But I wanted to anyways.

The next morning I walked into kitchen to fine Drew cooking. “Good morning.” He said smiling. I sat down and watched him cook. “How you sleep?” He asked.

“Good.” I mumbled. “How was the floor?”

            “”It was okay.” He said.

“Where is Lilly?” I asked looking around.

            “She went to work.”

            “And you didn’t?” I asked.

“It’s my day off.” He said.

“Oh.” I said. Drew out a table of eggs and bacon in front of me.

“I hope you like eggs…” He said looking a little worried. “And bacon,”

I laughed. “I do. Thanks.” I grabbed my fork and started eating as Drew grabbed his own table and sat down next to me.

“So what was dangerous back at that foster home?” I asked.

“They knew I knew you, they would move to another foster home and the closest one here other than ours is a hell hole.” He said.

            I nodded in understanding. “Oh.”

“What happened? At your new house?” Drew asked.

“I don’t want to talk about it.” Was all I said.

“Okay…” He said. “Want to see a movie?”

            “Sure.”

We moved into living room and he turned on the TV. “What would you like to watch?”

            “A comedy.”

We skipped through the list movies until we found the perfect movie and put it on.

We watched movies for hours and hours. And when we weren’t watching movies, we were playing video games. I helped Drew cook dinner and we started playing video games again.

I felt safe here. I was glad I knew Drew. Where would I be at this very moment without him? Stuck outside in the cold. Dead, because of the snow. Dead because somebody killed me.

A lot of things could of have happened. But Drew was kind enough to help me with my problem. Drew was a sweetheart. And he was also three (or was it two?) years older than me.

Lilly was nice and let me use her clothes. And was taking me shopping tomorrow. I can see a real friendship growing with these people. They’re kind hearts. And Lilly reminded me of my best friend.

I hit Drew’s arm making him miss the shot. “No fair! That’s cheating.” He said.

            “Too bad.” I said laughing.

He leaned over and put his head in front of my face. “Can’t see anything now can you?” He said amusement clear in his voice.

“That is not fair.” I pouted. “You’re a cheater.”

“Said the girl who pushed my hand away.” Drew said inches away from my faces.

“You’re a jerk!” I said stinking out my tongue.

He smirked and pulled away grabbing a pillow and throwing it at my head.

“You’re the jerk here.” He said getting to his feet and throwing another pillow at my head.

            “Oh, it’s on.” I said.
