"It must be pretty embarrassing needing a babysitter in high school." Jane said to Ethan later that evening.

"Howdy Partners." Mrs. Morgan said to her two kids. Her and her husband were dressed up as people from the wild west, as they were going to a square dance.

"Ain't she as perty as a 20 dollar bill in a 10 gallon hat?" Mr. Morgan asked.

"Oh well, thank you kind sir." Mrs. Morgan said curtseying. "We're going country-line dancing."

"Yeah, I kinda noticed." Ethan said. "Um, mom? Dad? I just wanna say you were right. I shouldn't have left Jane unattended last week, I learned my lesson. So you can cancel the sitter and save $25."

"Ethan," Mrs. Morgan said. "I am not gonna leave you alone with Jane until I know I can trust you."

"Sorry, pal." Mr. Morgan said. "She's the sheriff."

"Fine." Ethan said angrily collecting his books. "I'll be in my room. Alone."

Shortly after, Ethan was in his room drawing, when Mckenzie burst through the door.

"Oh-hey Kenz." Ethan said.

"What's wrong, E?" Mckenzie asked concerned.

"The whole babysitter thing is just bumming me out." Ethan said. "My mom just said she couldn't trust me."

Mckenzie pursed her lips, searching for an excuse as to why she would say that. "Well...maybe...she does trust you...but wanted to give you an excuse for a hot girl to be in the house with you." Ethan gave her a look. "No that can't be." Mckenzie corrected herself. "I'm here everyday." Ethan cracked a smile at Mckenzie's jokes. Mckenzie smiled proudly. "I knew I could get you to smile." She paused. "And about the whole babysitter thing, just make the most of it. Eventually your mom will let you stay home alone with your sister again, so just enjoy no responsibility while you can. I wish I had that luxury."

"Thanks, Kenz." Ethan said. "You always know how to cheer me up."

"No problem." Mckenzie said smiling. Ethan's computer dinged. He opened it to see Video Chat Request from Benny. He quickly hit accept and Benny's face filled the screen.

"Hey man." Benny said. "Any sign of the babe-o-sitter yet?"

"Silly Benny," Mckenzie said. "I'm right here!"

Ethan laughed and put a friendly arm around Mckenzie's shoulder. "Funny but no, I'm staying in my room as a form of protest." Benny started raising his eyebrows like crazy, trying to hint to Ethan to step off, even though Ethan really only did it in a friendly way. Of course Ethan loved Mckenzie, but not like that. He felt nothing more than friendship love towards the girl, and she felt the same way. Ethan finally got the hint and slowly took his arm off, hoping to not raise any suspicions.

"Well I'm not!" Benny said. "First sign of babezilla and I'm there."

"Good luck with that." Mckenzie said rolling her eyes, and Ethan hung up, spun his chair around, and raised an eyebrow at Mckenzie. "What?"
