Payton awoke, and got a phone call. She ignored it, got ready, then went to her phone. She bit her lip. It was her father.
She called him back and walked around the house. "Yup, Dad, Barney is doing great." she said and heard Barney scratch on the door.
She opened it and he ran out to use the bathroom.
"Yeah, Dad, Trevor is coming by later today to help train Barney." she said and opened the door for Barney to come back in.
"Okay, Honey, love you. We'll be there Saturday at ten." he said and hung up.
"Ten in the morning?" she exclaimed but hearing him hang up, she put her phone down.
She looked at Barney eating his food, "Ten? On a Saturday. That's crazy talk. I want to sleep in." she stated to the hungry pup who was digging into his food.
Barney looked back, wagged his tail, and she sighed, "You don't care, do you?"
Barney ran over and rubbed his head onto her leg. She leaned down and stroked his back.
She then looked up, "Okay, I'll see you later." she kissed his head and rushed off to work.
A normal day came and gone at work. Page walked in, she was sweating.
Jessica looked up, all the costumers had left. It was four.
"You have a, well, glow." Brooke said and tossed some paper onto a nearby desk.
"Really? I didn't notice." Page sarcastically replied.
"Dancing got you tired?" Payton asked with a chuckle.
"No." Page replied and collapsed into a chair, "Okay," she said defeatedly, "yes."
They all chuckled and Trevor looked over, "I caught a ride with Chase today, mind if I ride with you?" he asked Payton. She nodded.
Chase walked up, "How's Barney?"
"Good. He is very smart. I think he knows how I feel. Like, he understands me." She replied.
Chase furrowed a brow, "Well, there are smart dogs in this world. Some even know that they are looking in a mirror. I don't doubt with my two finest vets training him, that he will be the best there is."
Payton hugged him, "Dogs know how you feel from your voice, right? They can sense your feelings?" she pulled away.
Chase nodded, "Yeah."
Payton smiled, "Thanks. Ready, Trev?"
Trevor looked over from his conversation with Page.
"Trev?" he asked.
"I'm Pay, Page is too short, Brooke is often called Boo. Chase can't be shortened. Jessica is Jess. Kyle can't be shortened."
Trevor nodded, "Look at me. Getting a nickname." he smiled happily.
Payton walked out and drove home. She was met at the door by a wagging tail.
She rubbed his stomach. Then fed him a treat.
After hours of training. Barney could sit, lay down, speak, stay, come, and roll over.
"I should take you home. It's getting late." she looked out the window to the darkness.
"Can't I just stay the night?" he asked while playing with Barney.
He picked him up and turned till Barney was looking at Payton. Trevor asked in a childish voice, "Please?" He was trying to make it seem like Barney wanted Trevor to stay.
Payton rolled her eyes and stroked Barney's head, "Of course. When will you get a dog?"
"Not sure. I'm happy with Barney right now." he said with a chuckle rubbed Barney's head. He put him down and looked at Payton.
"Well, tomorrow, Jess, Brooke, and Chase, well, everyone but us have to work." Payton replied. She and Trevor didn't work Friday's.
"Yes?" he asked, unknowing to why she stated this.
"We can take Barney to a dog park!" she exclaimed. "You can stay the weekend!"
She forgot about her parent's coming in.
"Okay," Trevor replied with a smile, "I have spare clothes here, right?"
"All of the gang does." Payton replied and walked to the couch. She flopped down, "I have three bedrooms, which one do you want?"
He shrugged, "All of them have queen sized beds, right?"
"All of them but mine, and you ain't getting mine." she smirked.
He huffed playfully and said, "I'll sleep in the last one."
Payton nodded, "Goodnight." she said and walked off.
"Goodnight." Trevor replied and walked off.
Barney trailed Payton.
