Payton flipped her hair, and Trevor chuckled. The morning was chilly, as summer was slowly passing and fall slowly arriving. Payton flipped her hair again, as she was trying to copy the girl on T.V. They had just ate, and got dressed, when Payton fell back onto the couch, and easily rested her head on his lap.
"Pay, aren't we supposed to take Lilly and Barney around town?" he asked, looking down at her. She nodded quickly.
She stood up, and looked over at them eating food, "We need to bring water, how will we-"
He dug into a box by the couch, it was decorated with puppy stickers. He got out a water bowl, then another. Payton nodded then started to the car. She held the door open and the two pups rushed out. As they walked, they walked to a historical area. It had tents and historic monuments.
They entered an air conditioned tent, and enjoyed the breeze. Payton looked at Trevor with Lilly and Barney following them. Trevor halted, and poured water into the two bowls and the pups lapped it up.
Payton and Trevor locked hands as they read the facts about the tents that were scattered on the grounds, "Isn't that cool," Payton said, pointing to the fact.
"Yeah, but listen to this;" he recited the fact, "these tents are the healers tents."
Payton nodded in acknowledgment, and then looked at the panting pups, "I guess we should rest here." Payton chuckled and sat on a bench. Trevor done the same. He dug into his backpack and gave her a bottle of water.
"Drink," he said, "save your bodily fluids." Trevor chuckled and then gulped some down.
Payton nodded and gulped some down, "How are you? Aren't getting too hot are ya'?"
He shook his head, "Nope." he saw Lilly and Barney begin strolling to the edges of the tent, and decided they were bored and ready to leave, "I think they're ready."
Payton chuckled, "Me too, let's go." she called Lilly who was on the wrong exit. They walked, and saw some cannons. Payton stopped, they had it roped off, but she began to wonder if she could touch one.
Trevor noticed her intense fascination with this and spoke up, pulling her out of her trance, "We should keep moving, up those stairs," he pointed to a fort, "are some cannons we can touch."
Payton hugged him, kissed his cheeks then looked around. Lilly and Barney were right behind them. Payton smiled, and continued. They walked up halfway, then the stairs turned and went the other way. The steps were large, no doubt to keep out intruders, back when this was a fort.
Payton saw the pups struggling to bounce up the steps, in the heat, many times. She scooped Barney up in her arms, and Trevor scooped up Lilly.
They walked the rest of the stairs, and at the end, they halted and panted. Lilly licked Trevor's face graciously, while Barney done Payton. They put the pups down, and they ran close by.
A young child strolled up and hugged Barney. Payton was surprised Barney didn't growl since the child basically ran up then tackled. The mother came over and grabbed the child, muttering a sorry then walked off.
Payton rubbed Barney behind the ears as a good-boy, and then searched for a cannon. She found one that she saw a few people pulling on. She pulled a lever, yet nothing happened to her relief.
She went to the next one and pulled it, Trevor yelled, "Boom!" Payton jumped and turned around with a playful scowl.
They went a few more places, and then they walked home, it was five p.m.
Payton collapsed on the couch, "What a day!" she said, and flopped onto her stomach. She stared at the T.V, she turned on Netflix, then enjoyed a movie.
Trevor made some food, then returned and watched the movie while they ate. After the movie ended, it was seven-thirty p.m.
Payton looked over, somewhat of a upset gleam, "Trevor, our income is low. Our job, we just got cut back a day, I mean, it's fun for family time... but not for money."
Trevor nodded, "I know, what can we do? Do you really want to quit our job, I mean, we'd leave our friends, plus, we wouldn't help pups, kittens, bunnies, or anything else anymore."
"I know, I just wish we could get a raise." Payton replied."Why can't we? They pay us by the hour, why not work late?"
"Okay, how late?"
"Four hours." he replied. She nodded.
"You should call Chase tomorrow and tell him," she then questioned, "what would we do?"
"Paperwork, Chase can't handle it all by himself, he hires professionals, we're professionals. While I work with money, you can handle the appointments."
Payton nodded, "Can we get some sleep, tomorrow I need to wake up and call my mom. I need to tell her that we aren't waiting on her."
"What?" Trevor asked confused, "Waiting on her for what?"
Payton then realized she hadn't told him, she frowned, "Sorry, Trev, I've just been thinking about a lot of things and I forgot to tell you, Mom wants to be here when we tour the house. But she can't be here for..." she checked the calendar as her mother told her exactly when she'd be here, "for fifteen days, I think. Unless plans change.. We need to buy the house before then, right?"
Trevor nodded, "Tomorrow we should go tour it, can you set up a meeting?"
Payton nodded, "When? We work till eight..." she replied, and Trevor looked down.
Trevor replied, "I was thinking, wait until after the wedding to start doing later jobs. It's so crazy right now, can you image working later?"
Payton nodded, "Okay, I'll set it up at five?"
Trevor nodded, "Yeah, wait, no, I promised the guys I'd hang out with them. What if we meet each other at the house at six?"Payton nodded, "I'll set it up. I'll hang out with the girls until then."
They hugged each other, and Trevor whispered, "This is getting crazy. I'm just glad I'm crazy with you."
They two went to bed.
