I couldn't help it but let my eyes wander to my left where the shivering girl was sitting with her legs hugged to her chest. She had been cold, that was clear from the second Luke had left the alley and my eyes were locked on her. After handing her her cardigan I offered her the hoodie I was wearing, yet here she was, shivering in my heathened car.
She stared right in front of her. Eyes wide and dull. Her upper lip sucking on her trembling lower one. Her shivering limbs hugged together yet I couldn't see any emotion. She seemed empty, emotionally exhausted.
I didn't dare to go near her. When I lead her to my car, which was situated a few streets further than the alley, she kept her distance from me and whenever I touched her her eyes went wild and a shiver ran down her spine. It was almost if she didn't recognise me.
It killed me completely.
It was crazy how I had learn to care about this girl in such a short amount of time. Last time I had seen her drunk she was the last person I could possible care for, yet there I was taking her home to make sure she was safe. At this moment I would do anything to protect her and never got her in this situation again.
I sighed as I turned my eyes from her and unto the road. I felt hopeless for this girl. Her walls were high and I felt like I had spent all my power on climbing them, yet I was only half and once I thought I was coming closer to the edge, something would pull me down again.
I wanted to be here. I wanted to hear her story, not just today, the story of her life. Why she became this guarded because I felt like I rarely knew her and it broke me, knowing I cared so much for a girl who was practically a stranger.
I made my car come to a stop and looked over at her once again. Her name left my lips in a whisper and when she didn't react I reached for her. The tips of my fingers silently traced her brow before pushing her hair back behind her ear. Her empty eyes found mine and she backed away, finding the handle and climbing out the car. Her legs carried her fragile body away from me as fast as she could in her drunken state.
A curse left my mouth before I followed her, locking my car and walking fast behind her. My speed increased when I noticed her limp body crash to the ground and a screech coming from her perfect shaped and coloured lips. Once back in sight I noticed blooddrops rolling down her knee along with a single tear on her cheek.
I bent over her, examinating her body with my eyes to make sure she hadn't hurt herself more than the scratch on her limb. While I examinated her whole body I felt her eyes boring through my body, silently praying I wouldn't do anything to her.
The thought upset me, knowing someone had accaused her such a horrifying memory that she didn't even recognise me anymore. She tried to stand up to get away from me once again but her damaged knee stopped her.
The watery hazel eyes found mine once again before she whispered. “Please, don't hurt me again.”
These words were the ones who broke the last stable string inside of me, knocking the breath out of my lungs. My arm tensed, fingers curling into a fist before I relaxed and gripped her close to my body. Her legs were supported by my arm and I losely wrapped her arms around my neck while her head nuzzled in the croock of it. At this moment I descended my lips softly on her temple.
“I promise, I will never or let anyone hurt you.”

Belle had stripped off her dress while still wearing my sweater, making sure she wouldn't expose herself to me before I lent her my bed. She had to sleep and shake off the past events, I wouldn't be able to though. I had to watch over her and make sure whenever she had a nightmare I had to end it.
Her body was curled up beneath the sheets as I watched over her from the seat beside her. She had been sleeping peacefully 'till now. Often a frown was set above her closed eyes but most of the time she was emotionlessly sleeping, which was a huge relief.
My eyelids were slowly falling down once I was sure she was sleeping peacefully. That was until she shot up, her eyes dull and empty again. Before I could even react she was on her way towards the bathroom. I could hear the toilet open right in time before I could hear everything coming out of her, the opposite than it originally should.
I rushed toward her and how much it hurt me to hear everything once again, I sat beside her. Grabbing her short brown hair and keeping it from her face. She flinched by the action and tried to push me away but I didn't budge.
“Belle, I'm here to help you.”
She sat up when she was finished and stared me deeply in the eyes who were finally finding life again. The simple gesture made my lips curl up just a bit, she was back with me.
She climbed back in bed while I positioned myself once again on the chair beside her. Her hand softly gripped mine and slowly she intertwined our fingers.
“Come here.” Her voice cracked between the two simple short words, making me wince. When I didn't move from my place on the chair she opened one eye and patted the place behind her.
I slowly got up and moved to the right side of the bed and sat straight up beside her. Before I was seated neatly she had been snuzzled against me.
“Thank you Harry.”
I stared down at her, slowly starting to stroke her hair as I felt her drift off. “Don't need to, anyone would have saved you.”
She heaved her shoulders and dropped them only mere seconds after. “Maybe, maybe not. But at least you didn't just save me, but protect me afterwards. You didn't beg me to talk about it or pulled it out of me like everyone would, you promised you would never hurt me and I don't think the other...”
I waited for her to continue her sentence but soon I noticed her words had been replaced with heavy breaths.
I smiled at her and unwrapped her arms around my waist to get out of this bed, knowing she wouldn't speak to me after she found me in the same bed as her, after the night she had been nearly abused. But her grip only tightned and pulled me close to her again.
My smile only grew by the action so I stayed in the same place I was now and wrapped my arms around her so fragile body and hugged her close.
I wouldn't let anyone near her again, not even nightmares. I wouldn't let anyone take her away from me. She was the small pieces I had lost when my world had been crashed. Her shattered pieces matched mine, to make us a whole again.
