I must have cut out the most dodgy parts of that chapter beforehand! Oops! I'll try and add them back in in this chapter ;)

Zoe was dreading the end of school the next day, something that had never happened before. It was because of the dinner with Inigo and her family. She knew it was going to be an embarrassing experience and so she was very slow packing up from last lesson. If Inigo noticed, he didn’t say so, or hadn’t said so until they were the last ones in the room. She was packing up her stuff from the experiment like a snail, as slow as she possibly could. The horrible thing was that she knew she wouldn’t be able to get away. It had to happen at some time. She couldn’t run away from time. Eventually it would creep up on her.

It was around three minutes before Inigo touched her arm and she stopped to turn to him. He had a soft smile on his face. Even though he couldn’t read her mind, it looked as if he knew what she was thinking now. “Zoe, do not worry. It will be fine. Come on. Any slower and the school will be locked up with us inside.” He picked up her bag and flung it over his shoulder so she couldn’t fiddle with anything else. She bit her lip instead and shuffled on her feet.

“Don’t you have detentions?”

He shook his head. “Not really. Anyway, the dinner is another hour away. Plenty of time left. Do not stress.” He took her hand and smiled again, causing her heart to pound. “Can we leave the classroom now?”

She nodded and he led her out of the room. As usual, the whole school was empty. The lights were still on but it was obvious that they were the only two left. She felt kind of guilty for making him wait. He might have had to do something before he came to her house and she’d probably just delayed him.

That got her thinking. She had so much to do. Make up, clothes, perfume, the table, Jewels. She was going to have to rush it. It was coming so quickly. Yes, so he had the power to change emotions, but she wondered whether that was going to be enough.

Harry was going to tease them, Rosalie was probably going to go on and on, showing pictures, and Jewels, she didn’t know where to start. Inigo and dogs didn’t go well. Actually, any vampire and a dog didn’t go well. It was a disaster waiting to happen. A disaster that could show what he really was. The food, too. He would have to struggle through it and pretend that he liked it. It sounded like some kind of torture and she was amazed that he’d decided to go through with it as if it was a normal occasion.

He was watching her as she mulled all of this over, walking down the corridor, with a frustrated look on his face. “Please say your thoughts aloud.” He pleaded. Zoe looked up at him and shrugged.

“Just worrying.”

“Let me go inside your brain.” He gave her a hopeful smile.

She sighed. “I just think tonight is going to go so wrong. There’s so many problems that I can think of that might happen.”

“You are stressing yourself out for nothing. It will go smoothly, I promise.”

“How do you know?”

“I will make it go smoothly.” He stroked her cheek with the back of his hand. “You look almost not delicious when you are thinking like that.” Zoe scrunched up her face and he grinned. “I said almost.” He licked her cheek.

“So are you coming straight to my house or…” She said, trying to change the subject.

It worked.
