Chap. 9 Finding Maria

Adele's POV
"Liam you say. That's a nice name." I could barely keep my grin from showing as I said this.
"Thank you. I've never been complimented by a famous person before. May I ask you a question? Did you really say all that stuff to Riley?"
Uh oh. I knew that would bite me in the ass but I thought it would be the tabloids not Maria's crush.
"Yes, yes I did."
"Well it's about time someone finally knocked her down a few pegs. I hated seeing Maria get hurt by Riley and her clique. My cousin is friends with Riley and made me ask her out. Apparently Riley has a crush on me but I don't like her one bit so I ended it after three days of torture."
Well this is pure gold! Liam seems to like Maria, at least in a friendly way.i bet I could change his mind though.
"Speaking of Maria, could you tell me where she lives?"
"Of course! I can't believe I'm taking the great Adele somewhere!"
"Aw that's so sweet of you! Now what can you tell me about Maria?" I ask, hoping for him to say that he likes her.
"Well she really likes you. I don't really talk to her much at school, she kind of avoids me. I think she might be scared of me, so I try to leave her be. I would like to get to know her, she seems pretty cool. I mean she's smart, funny, athletic, and, well, I think she's pretty. I think that Maria Kiel is pretty. There I said it."
Wow that was a lot to process. We reach my car and I accidentally get into the passenger side.
"Oops!" I exclaim, "it's the other way around in England." After that little embarrassment, I ask Liam about himself as he gives me directions to Maria's house. He plays sports, is smart, funny, polite, and cute, for a 14 year old boy. When we arrive at Maria's house, he thanks me profusely for the opportunity to talk to me. I laugh it off and say that my security can give him a ride back to the park. As they drive off, I walk up the path to Maria's front door. After ringing the bell, I step back to wait, plotting my opening line. The door opens and just as I'm about to sing Hello, I notice a boy standing there in basketball shorts and a t shirt.
"How can I help you?" He asks, not recognizing who I am.
"Well my name is Adele Adkins and I'm here to see your sister."
"Well I'm sorry Adele but Maria's still asleep... Wait a second, Adele Adele Adele, I recognize your name. No, are you the actual Adele?" He asks, clearly very confused.
"In fact I am. What's your name?" I answer and then ask as I stretch out my hand for a handshake.
"My name is Andrew. Andrew Kiel. Maria is going to freak when she finds out that I met Adele before she did." Andrew turns to yell out for Maria, but I quickly stop him.
"Wait Andrew! Could I possibly surprise Maria?"
"Of course, come on in and do whatever you'd like. Do you want some thing to eat or drink?" I shake my head no so he continues on, "well I'll just give you a quick tour and then we'll end in Maria's room."
I followed Andrew around a decent sized house. I wouldn't call it spotless, I would say cozy. A loving family obviously lives here. After the downstairs portion and the basement, we head up the stairs towards the bedrooms. We just glance into his and his parents rooms before stopping at the end of the hall.
"Well this is Maria's room. I will be down in the basement, do you remember where that is?" After a nod yes, he smiles and heads back down the stairs. I slowly push open the door to Maria's bedroom, trying not to make too much noise. I peek my head in and see some bookcases, a dresser, and a bed with a sleeping girl in it. After a quick scan of the room, I can tell she is a fan. She has a few magazines featuring me and some of my CDs. I try to figure out how to surprise Maria when I really get a good look at her. Liam is right, Maria is pretty. I go over and just sit in her rocking chair a few feet from her bed. It's nearly ten thirty, she can't be asleep much longer. I rock back and forth a few times and just twiddle my thumbed while I wait.

Maria's POV
Someone's in my room.
