Chapter 8

"What happened to you yesterday? You never came to school. Are you OK?"

I called my friend, Mackenzie the next morning. I felt like I should let her know I'm OK.

"Kenzie! I'm OK! I just felt sick yesterday and didn't come to school. I'm perfectly fine. Trust me."

I hate lying to friends, but in this case, I had to.

I figured that, since I was apparently a vampire/angel hybrid, I couldn't tell anyone or they would call me crazy or try to expose Jay and I.

"Are you sure you're OK? I mean I could come over to check on you..."

"No! I mean, not right now. Just call back in an hour or so, OK? I'm actually about to get in the shower, so. Just head over in an hour? But call before you get here." I say nervously into the phone.

"OK!" She replies cheerfully.

"OK, great! Bye!"

"Bye!"

After I hung up the phone, I actually did get in the shower.

I was rinsing the conditioner out of my hair, when I heard a knock on my window.

"Hold on!" I called out the bathroom door.

I finished up my shower, got dressed, and ran to my window.

The first thing I saw, were Jay's now fully black wings.

He mouthed 'let me in!', so I opened the window.

"Hey Jay! How are you this fine morning?" I ask, pulling him into a hug.

"I'm good. And you? Why are you so cheery this morning?" He asks smiling.

"No reason! Just good nights sleep!" I say, smiling back.

It wasn't a lie!

I slept very well last night, and now, I'm OK with his secret.

"It's your secret too." He says, climbing in the window.

He takes a few steps into my room and hugs me.

I melt into his hug, and let out a sigh.

I didn't realize how much I missed him, in just a few hours.

I feel him smile, and I pull away.

I finally made someone happy!

"I have a question." Jay says nervously.

"Yes?" I ask.

"Would, uh, would you like to go to Snow Coming with me?"

Kind of a short chapter, but its what I have so far.

Should I send a demon to the dance?
