Chapter 16: (short) after math

I woke up at 9, still tired but unable to sleep anymore. Everyone else was still asleep so i quietly snuck down stairs and walked out to the dock. I sat down and looked at the crystal clear tropical california water and closed my eyes. All of a sudden i heard my name,

“Jane” a voice said.

I turned around slowely and saw him. Jake was standing on the dock behind me. I had no where to go so i froze and stared at him, my eyes started swelling up. He sat down next to me and I scooted away from him. He put his head in his hands, then looked up. I could see tears slowing falling down his beautiful face.

“im so sorry” he said.

“Why did you do it” I said.

He shook his head, “I didnt know what i was doing Jane, I had 9 drinks i couldnt think straight.” he said, wiping his eyes.

“Jane!” A voice called, I turned back to see Alex and John standing on the villa.

“Are you okay” John hollard.

“Im fine, we need to talk things out” i hollard back.

John nodded and waved goodbye, him and Alex turned around and went in side. I turned back around and stared at the ocean. Jake slowly grabbed my hand and I snatched it away.

“Dont touch me” I said.

He looked at me shocked. I stoop up quick.

“Dont ever touch me again!” I said, tears going down my face.

He stood up fast and grabbed my arms, trying to cool me down. I tried to wiggle out of his grip, but couldnt so i started pounding my arms against his chest. He stood still as i punched him, tears pouring down my face then I finally stopped and he pulled me into his chest. My face was buried in his chest crying. He arms wrapped around the back of my head, my arms flat against my side.

“Why, would, you, do, that” I let out between sobs.

“Jane Im so sorry” He cried out, “I didnt know what I was doing, I would never do that to you baby.” He pulled me off him, and wiped my tears off my face.

“God its only been a month Jake! Weve only dated for a month and you already cheated on me!” I said discusted at him. I sat back down and laid by head back against the dock. He sat next to me and did the same. We laid there for a good 10 minutes not saying a thing, just thinking of what to do. I had stopped crying long ago and had calmed down.

“So what are we going to do.” i said breaking the silence.

“I love you Jane” he said.

“I loved you too.” I said back.

He paused, “Loved?” he asked.

“Yes, past tense.” I said. “I loved you last night, and for the last 3 weeks. Im in love with you still, but I do not love you right now” I said.

He nodded, understanding. “Jane I’ll never stop loving you. Im so sorry, I cant even describe it.” he said.

I looked at him. I sat up, he did too, and pulled him into a big hug. He hugged me tightly. We stayed hugging for around 3 minutes when I said it.

“Jake?” I said.

“Yes?”

“We need to break up.”
