Day 26
Chanyeol's POV
It's all my fault. Everything is my fault.
What had happened to me? I stared at both my hands, regretting every mistakes I've done. I watched as Sena waiting for Xiumin to wake up. Her eyes were swollen. Her face went to pale to paler. Her lips were dry.
I watched Haeri as she hold her father's hand. Her tears touched his skin. She put his hand to her cheek. She didn't even realized I am here. I was here. She should've notice but she chose not to.
I went out of the hospital, thinking of the sins I've done.
"It's not your fault," Lay sighed. He's the only one who can understand my situation. "It's a test for your kind. If you regret what you've done, you're at the bright side but if you like it, you're at the dark side."
"I know it's a test but why does it has to involve the twins? Xiumin too. I hate this," I covered my face with both hands.
"You can't blame yourself. It's just a test to see if you deserve a special gift. You don't need to worry. I bet you'll deserve one," he smiled comfortingly. Even though it's comforting, my heart was crushed.
Why was I being controlled to the fullest? I could've fought back. Making a car hit Xiumin or the twin's father was the worst. It can even make Xiumin die.
I should've fought harder.
"I think I'll see Haeri," I sighed before teleporting.
I went to her back. I don't want to tap her shoulder. She'll jumped. But even before I could tell her about my presence, she turn around only to find me.
It's my first time seeing her so sad like this. Honestly, it broke my heart. And I know, this is all so wrong.
"Chanyeol," she bit her lower lip to stop herself from crying.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't stop any of this. I'm sorry that you need to go through everything as difficult as this. I'm sorry," I apologized but I honestly feel like that isn't enough at all. Apologizing won't do it. It won't make me feel any better.
"I don't want to loss my father too," was the only word she said. "I don't want to loss Sena and if possible, you."
My heart make a broken sound. I can feel the pieces all drop to my guts. It felt horrible. If only I am a human right now, I'll tell her right away. But the problem is, I'm not. I'm a mere soul. It's impossible to stay by her side everyday.
From wanting to avoid me, she turns to a person who was longing for my presence. All because she's starting to loss each person bit by bit.
From her mother to her father and Xiumin. She's slowly losing Sena too. They start to loss contact with each other. Because their mind are drifting away from reality.
And I know, soon enough, she'll loss me and she needs to face the truth alone.
I leave the room that filled with pressure and move to Sena. Since she can't see me, I just watch her, silently cussing myself.
"When are you going to wake up?" She asked as she stared at Xiumin.
And now I realize, how much she loves him. They're both like a fool but it's obvious that they're meant for each other. They just needed more time to trust their feelings against each other.
How can I just know that now? Even when I bumped into them, Sena was always with Xiumin and not Haeri. Childhood friends.
The door open and surprisingly, it was Haeri. She walked to Sena and put a hand on her shoulder.
"You've been awake," she started. "You should rest at home. Let's go."
"I don't want to," Sena answered with a weak voice.
"You need to," Haeri said with a bit of stern obvious in her voice.
"I told you I don't want," Sena insisted.
"Sena, ever since we arrived here, you only paid attention to Xiumin. You didn't even glance on father or visit him. Or ask how he is," Haeri frowned.
"Does it looks like it matters to me?" Sena almost broke into tears. And honestly, I hate seeing her like this.
Sena is an optimist. Everything, she took it as a joke. But now, she looks like she's being possessed.
"How could you?" Haeri was hurt by the comment.
"He didn't even visited us when mom left us. Why would I even bother about him now?" She hissed. "Haeri, can't you see the obvious? He's the main reason why you're in danger. Why all of us are in danger. Open your eyes for once. He fooled you to like him. He's crazy. Kim Haeri, he's crazy."
"That didn't change the fact that he's our father," Haeri protested. "Our father that has been helping mother to take care of us. And you shouldn't disrespect him."
"I just need time. Leave," Sena instructed right away as she only set her eyes on Xiumin.
"Sena-"
"Leave," she sternly said.
"Sena, life is always cruel-"
"Oh yeah?" Sena scoffed. "You're just a younger sister to me and you know nothing about being aware, don't you? You just judge things by glancing on them. You never think too deeply. If it's true that he is the caused of this chaos, are you going to come to me and said, 'Sena, you shouldn't disrespect him. He's your father'. Is it?
"Leave, Haeri. Just leave."
With that Haeri left. Not even trying to convince her another time. I followed Haeri out. Once we're out of the hospital, that's the only time Haeri look at me.
"Why are you following me?" She hissed. And honestly, it's scary.
"You wished for me to not leave, remember?" I reasoned out.
It makes her speechless. She walked all the way to home not even caring about how long the distance is. I keep on tailing her from behind like a lost puppy.
Once we reached home, she slammed the door right in front of my face. I blinked my eyes. The accident all leave a big impact on the twins.
When I entered inside, just then I realized she's in the bathroom. The shower turn on as the running water make noises when it hit the floor. Sometimes, I thought that Haeri will cut herself.
But I trusted her.
I lean on the bathroom door as I slipped down. I stared on my hand as my appearance started to slowly fade. I look up only to see Tao, smirking.
"You won't make it," he mocked. "You only have about 74 more days to settle everything before it ended. I don't think you'll be able to receive gift."
"What kind of gift are you talking about?" I frowned.
"You'll be given options. Either to continue your life as a ghost or to revive as another different person," he explained.
That sounded nice. But first, I need to make everything right just before my hundred days ended. Unfortunately, Lay said that my days might not really be hundred days. He told me, there's a possibility for me to have only fifty days. Fifty days before I leave.
Fifty days to spend my time with Haeri. Fifty days to get to know her. I don't think fifty days are enough. Not at all. But I need to make sure I filled up those fifty days.
"Since you saved Hana, there's possibility that you only got fifty days. And maybe since you've met Tao and fell for his trick, it might as well be one of the factor why you disappeared even before the hundred days."
"How can I make sure that my time almost come?"
"It will show signs. Your appearance will fade and you'll get even paler. And soon enough, no one can see you anymore. Not even me or Haeri. That time will come soon. That's the time when you're confirmed that you'll leave."
Lay's an expert on this. About my kind's rules. I need to fill my fifty freaking days. This is all ridiculous. It's too short.
