I watched as Arrow ran around his paddock. He was the only Appaloosa horse barrel racing. His breeding is three fourths quarter horse and a fourth of Appaloosa. Some how the Appaloosa side got a hold of his coat.
Prca was fun for the most of it but now I was accepted to join the ERA circuit due to how good I am at barrel racing. I'll be up there with names like Fallon Taylor and Lisa Lockhart.
I called my horse up and gave him an apple. Then clipped on his lime green lead to his lime green halter. I led him to the stable and tied him at the cross ties. I got my lime green grooming kit and began to brush him.
Once his coat was shining I scraped the dirt and crap from his hooves and led him to his stall. The stable hand had cleaned out every stall this morning while the horses were outside.
My parents own the second biggest boarding stable in Texas near the Louisiana/Texas line. Sugar Land, Texas is where the stable is at. It's off the maps and is secluded. People drive all the way from Houston to board their horses here.
I went up to the house and up to my room. Ever since I was born I've been spoiled. As I grew older I grew less dependent on my parents for money and other things. Recently I found a house in Vidor about thirty minutes from the Louisiana border.
They were fencing the place off so I could move my horse there with me. Gage came in my room trotting and sat down at my feet. He's my blue Merle Aussie cattle dog that I got as a puppy for my birthday last year.
I was typing on my computer about how my schedule was going to go. When I was done I got up and went downstairs to the kitchen to fix me supper.
I know my parents cook every single night and there's tons of leftovers in the fridge. My little brother who is sixteen came in and laid down on the couch. He's the school's top football player. He can play any position on the team. Like one time he had to fill in for the receiver or another when he was kicker.
I fixed myself leftovers and ate while he chilled. When I was done I put my plate in the sink and went back up to my room with Gage following. I got my clothes for a shower and stepped in. Last month was nationals and I barely made it due to an injury.
Arrow slipped in June and broke my ankle, not on purpose though. I was out until August and by that time I barely made it into nationals. Once I was done showering I got into bed and Gage got up with me. I stroked him as I stared at a poster of the different ERA riders.
Finally I drifted off to sleep with my dog next to me.

I woke up and got out of be and threw some capris on with a short long sleeve shirt. Jax knocked on my door and came in. "Hey sis. When do you leave?" He asked. "March 21. Going to Redmond, Oregon." I told him. He nodded and went out. I grabbed my last bag of clothes and went to put it in the truck.
I was going to my new place with my clothes and pets today. Last night I got a call saying that the fence was all up. After I ate breakfast I went out to the stable and got my tack and grooming kit.
I put them in the tack compartment/living quarters of my trailer and then went to get my horse. Gage followed me everywhere. I snapped the lead on my horse and led him to the trailer. I put his guard boots on and tail wrap then loaded him up.
Mom came out worried when she saw me loading Arrow. "Grace. Stay one more day." "Mom I've got to move away sometime. Besides its almost two hours mom. I'll be close enough for you to come visit when I'm home I promise." I told her as I closed the trailer door.
She nodded and went back to the house. I went to the office and gave dad a hug and kissed his cheek. "Miss you dad." I told him and left the office. Last but not least I hugged my brother and told him I'll see him around.
Then I loaded Gage up and hit the road to my new house. George Strait's heartland came on and I sang along to it.
'When you hear twin fiddles and a steel guitar,
You're listening to the sound of the American heart.
And Opry music on a Saturday night
Brings a smile to your face and a tear to your eye.Sing a song about the heartland,
The only place I feel at home.
Sing about the way a good man
Works until the daylight's gone.
Sing the rain on the roof on a summer night
Where they still know wrong from right.
Sing a song about the heartland.
Sing a song about my life.Sing a song about the heartland,
The only place I feel at home.
Sing about the way a good man
Works until the daylight's gone.
Sing the rain on the roof on a summer night

Sing a song about my life.Hey yeah.'
I sang along to more George Strait and other country legends until I got to my house. All of my stuff was here now. This was the complete official start of my single life. No parents or siblings. Just me, my horse and dog.
