I loaded my trailer up and was ready to go. I put my bags in the living and loaded Arrow up. Gage got in the cab and I climbed in. My ankle quit hurting this morning but it's still hurting. On and off more like.
I drove to Salt Lake City where it all began. Once there I parked close and limped to the back of the trailer. Gage stayed by my side as I unloaded Arrow. I walked Arrow up to sign in and get my stall number. I tied him up outside and went in.
When I came back I saw Shane pulling in. I'm guessing they heard about the breakup and decided not to talk to me about it. Good for them to keep the remarks to themselves. Yup it's that time of month too. I rode Arrow to his stall and put him inside.
Tuf came jogging down the isle towards me. "What's up girl?" He asked. "Not much. Tuf. How's Decatur this time of year?" I asked. "How's the Houston area?" He asked. "Hot."
He helped me with my saddles and tack then I went and parked my trailer off to the side. I went in to talk and there was Shane talking with the calf ropers. I stood there talking to the girls and putting most of my weight on my left foot.
We talked for about thirty minutes before I left to go get cleaned up for tonight. I put on my lime green pearl snap and favorite pair of boot cuts before tucking my shirt into the jeans. I put my socks on and the ankle brace then pulled both my boots on and took some ibuprofen to numb the pain.
I got my horse cleaned up for the night and styled his mane and tail. Gage sat watching as I threw the my barrel saddle on then climbed up in it. I told him to stay while I closed the stall door.
He didn't whine or anything when I left him in there. I rode to the warm up ring and jogged Arrow around it letting him lengthen his strides. Fallon, Brittany, Lisa, and the youngest out of all us racers joined me warming up.
"There might be a reason he did it Grace. Men do some pretty stupid stuff around the woman they love." Lisa told me. I nodded and left the ring to line up. I was fourth out tonight and second in tie down. The rest joined me and we were waiting for our chance to go.
When it came to mine I rounded each barrel perfectly and was able to kick Arrow to the alley. I trotted him to the stall and guess who was waiting.
I dismounted and got the saddle off Arrow and made a quick switch. Shane stood back knowing I was mad at him for what he did.
He had a sad look in his eyes but I've seen it all before. I tightened the cinch and climbed into the saddle. I rode Arrow around until it was time. Trevor went before me and Shane went after me.
Shane's POV
I wish I could hold her and tell her that girl meant nothing to me. That I was heartbroken when she broke up with me. It's all my fault I lost her. I wanted to get closer to her but picked the wrong choice.Trevor told me what had happened and how he found her. I never meant to make her cry, especially when I couldn't hear what was going on. I wished that was her in the shower with me instead of Shelby.
I watched as she roped her calf and went back to her horse. Then it was my turn.
Grace's POV
I unsaddled Arrow and took the bridle off. I put his halter back on and went to my trailer with Gage at my side. Crying myself to sleep sounded pretty good right now. I don't rope for the next two nights so I've got a bit of freedom.I wrapped my ankle with ice and sat down to watch tv. A knock made me turn to the door. "Who is it?" I asked. "Grace. It's Shane please I need to talk to you."
I ignored the next line he said because I've heard the lines dozens of times all with one boyfriend. I don't need it again. "Please baby girl?" No not the nicknames. My eyes were close to tearing up. No I don't need this not now or ever. No wonder I haven't had a boyfriend in forever.
I was tired of the crap one gave me that I didn't want to fall for it again. He left finally and I went to bed.
I got up the next morning to find him sleeping by my trailer. He slept on the hard ground just to talk to me? I ignored him and went to feed my horse. There's no way I'm going to fall for that.
Hey can't sleep so I wrote the rest of this chapter. No trivia here too tired to think of a question, to awake to sleep.
