Frank's POV

It's about nine pm when I get back home so it's not too late thankfully. I look around for a little while to see if Gerard's here. I'm not surprised when I find out he's not.

Exhaustion seeps over me and I decide to curl up in bed under my mountain of blankets. It'd be better if Gerard was here but I'll just have to deal with it. It kinda makes me sad to think about what he's doing right now. Probably wasting his life away with alcohol and drugs, and probably hooking up with someone who's way over his age. But they're his choices, not mine.

After a few minutes of reading I turn off the lights and try to go to sleep.

I'm woken up by my buzzing phone. The littlest things can wake me up. I turn over to see who it is.

Mom: Hi Frank, is Gerard there with you?

It's definitely way easier to lie on the phone.

Frank: yea he's here

Mom: ok good that's all I wanted to ask. See you in a few weeks

Frank: k bye mom love you

After I shut my phone off I turn over to expect Gerard to be there, I'm not crazy, I'm just half asleep still. But all I get is just falling on to the hard wood floor. I sit up on the floor and inspect the arm I fell on. The faintest little bruise covers some of my elbow. Morning light flows in through the window so it must be time to get up.

I decide to skip breakfast and just get dressed and see if Richie needs me. I text him and get a mixed response several minutes later.

Richie: I don't know. Do you think I need you?

Frank: do I need to come today or not?

Richie: yea sure come over

Damn. I groan as I put my shoes on. I shouldn't have asked.

Soon enough I'm out the door and walking to Richie's apartment.

Gerard's POV

"Good morning, beautiful", Bert says putting his arm over my bare back.

"Hey", I croak out. A throbbing pain remains persistent in my head and on my left eye. As soon as I recognize what happened with it I immediately reach for my hair to cover my bruised eye. But I'm too late.

"Oh shit, babe. What happened?", he asks sympathetically.

"Oh um, I fell down the stairs...", I say anxiously. He's never going to believe that.

"Yea, like I believe that.", Bert says coldly. "Is it that hard to tell the truth, Gee?"

"Well, uh...", I trail off. "Um, Mikey kinda sorta, uh did this.", I say pointing to my eye.

"You said nothing happened with you and Mikey though", Bert says staring hardly at me now.

"I didn't know what I was talking about last night!", I exclaim.
