An exhausted sigh echoed off the white walls of my bedroom. My three weeks of vacation back home to visit my parents and my boyfriend had flown by and now I was back in this two bedroom apartment. Back to this familiar cookie cutter apartment in this familiar small college town and I needed to start getting focused to start my first year of grad school in a few weeks. The sound of the front door closing struck my ears telling me my roommate Alley was back from her date and the muffled conversation the followed into her bedroom told me her date was far from over. Moving my black computer chair up to my desk, I pushed the button on my computer tower and waited as the screen came to life, running through its boot up programs.
In a few days it was back to my part time job in the school library, so tonight I should just kill some time on the Internet and see who's out their to talk to. Double clicking on that familiar icon, my room filled with the scratchy, piercing sound of connecting to the world. Maybe I can find an interesting conversation I can join in, something to keep my mind busy. You just never know who you'll find online in a random Sunday night.
