{{Chapter Twelve}}
“What happened in here?!” I heard my mother scream with surprise in her voice. I turned away from a laughing Ryder and stared at my mom as I giggled.
“He started it!” I laughed and pointed at Ryder.
“What? No, she started it.” He exclaimed pointing back at me.
“I don’t care who started it, but I want it cleaned up. I want this room to sparkle when you’re finished.” Mom said angrily before storming out of the kitchen.
“We did create a huge mess, Greenly.” Ryder smiled as he threw another egg me.
“Hey!” I yelled as I ducked. “Stop it Ryder.”
“Fine let’s clean it up.” Ryder smiled as he started to clean the eggs from the floor. I smiled at the mess and started to as well.
Two Hours Earlier
“What’s your favorite dessert, Tina?” I asked her as we looked through our cookbook for class. We had to make a cake for class, and so far the cakes mentioned in the book sounded a bit nasty.
“Cheesecake, I love the texture and crust.” She smiled at the thought and I laughed.
“What’s yours?”
“Churros, I love the fried fatness of them.” I moaned. “I wish I had some. In California we have a lot of Mexican restaurants so you could get churros anywhere.”
“I bet, we don’t have many Mexican restaurants here other than Taco Bell and Chipotle.”
“Yeah,” I sighed. “So which do you want to make. I’m pretty good at making churros or any dessert.”
“Let’s make churros; I doubt anyone else in class will think of making those.” Tina said thoughtfully.
“What’s a churro?” Ryder asked as he sat across from us.
“A Mexican donut, you would love them.” I said. “You want to help me make them?” I asked.
“Uh, doesn’t Tina have to help you?” Ryder asked.
“Yeah, but we can make some for ourselves can’t we?” I smiled at Tina and she nodded in agreement.
“Why not? Save me some though, I never had churros before.” Tina said as she stood up. “I got to go; I told Megan that I would go with her while she got her hair done.”
“She’s getting her hair done at lunch?” I asked confused.
“Yeah, she has a date tonight with a human so she wants to look good. We’re skipping the rest of the day, so I’ll see you tomorrow.” Tina explained before walking away.
“Alright, see ya.” I called after her leaving form. “So you want to pick up churro ingredients with me after school?” I asked him and he smirked at me.
“Yeah, but I’m driving.”
“No you’re not,” I argued. “Groceries will not fit on the back of your bike.”
“We'll find a way.” He said and got up to leave. “See you after school.”
It was only a small time after Ryder left did I get nervous about spending time with him. I was starting to like him, not just a little though, I liked him a lot. He was sweet at times and dark at other times. I know most girls would have left him alone to deal with his mood swings but I liked them.
“What is it about sweet bad boy that makes girls swoon?” I muttered to myself as I headed off to my next class.
