"Ms. Brooks, I will be seeing you in detention!" the teacher yelled.

Whoa. Let's start over. You don't know the story behind it. Let's rewind.

11:58 AM

I slammed my locker shut and ran, not wanting to be late to class. Nobody walked with me. Keaton didn't give a damn about me anymore, he was too busy with my sister. He was my only close friend, and he ditched me. I was a loner now. Nobody wanted to associate with Stephanie's younger sister. I was awkward to other people. They judged me. It wasn't fair. But then again, nothing was fair anymore.

I slid into my seat half a minute late. "Ms. Brooks, this better not happen again," my teacher, Mrs. McGone, said, clearly angry.

"Yes ma'am," I replied, quickly.

"We are going to continue with our calculations for the adaptations of our creatures. You will need to get with your groups."

I got up and went with my group, a snobby girl named Amanda and Kaylee, one of my surfing friends.

"Okay, you know the deal. I text while you guys do all the work," Amanda stated.

"Um, no. Not happening again," I replied.

"Shut up and work, Chloe," she snapped.

I hated her. She was so annoying. I saw her smirk, then slip the tweezers under her leg.

"Mrs. McGone, I can't find our tweezers, can I get another pair from the cabinet?" she asked.

"Make it quick," the teacher replied

She went over to the cabinet, and I was unsure of what she was doing. When she returned, she placed something in her water bottle. I didn't know what was going on, so I just went back to work.

Amanda screamed. Her jeans were covered in blue foam.

"Mrs. McGone, look what Chloe did!" she exclaimed.

"How dare you perform such an experiment without permission?" Mrs. McGone said.

"I didn't do it! She did it to herself!" I defended.

"Ms. Brooks, I will be seeing you in detention!" she yelled.

My jaw dropped. "But what about Amanda?" I said, very pissed off.

"Did she do anything to disturb the class?" she said to me, clearly done with me.

I looked to Keaton as if to say, "Help me," but he just gave me a sympathetic look. I was so done with this. He was just pushing me away.

After school, I packed up my things and headed to room 139. Detention was always in there. I was the only person there, since it was a Friday. No one risked losing their Friday afternoons after school. Just as I thought I would be a loner for the next hour, a familiar face came through the door.

"Keaton? What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I felt bad. I've been too busy with Steph lately to hang out with you. Plus, I did nothing in science. I'm a total jerk, and you have every right to be mad at me. But I wanted to be a nice friend, so I poured water on Amanda in history," he explained, smirking at the last part.

I took a minute to sink that all in. He felt bad? I thought he was just ignoring me. I should have figured Steph was stressing him out. "Thanks for coming. Amanda's been burned. Twice!" I said, laughing. Just then the principal came in.

"Silence," he stated. We just nodded. He left.

"Well, here goes an hour of pure boredom..." I whispered.

After our time was served, Keaton and I practically took out a teacher getting out of the school.

"So, do you want to go do something?" Keaton asked.

"I'd like that," I said, smiling a little. This reminded me of the days when we spent every hour together.

"You up for a little ping-pong?"

I looked at him, smirking. "You're on, Stromberg."
