"Duncan, sweetie get up. It's almost time for the barbecue, you should get changed."
Duncan slowly opened his eyes and found his mother standing Infront of him.
"All my clothes are either too small or have holes everywhere."
"Demi went shopping for you earlier while you were napping. There's an outfit waiting for you on your bed."
"But, isn't my bed like ruined?"
"Oh, Donnie and Darren fixed it for you."
She walked out of the room and left Duncan with his thoughts.
Why is everyone helping me out?
I thought Demi was the only one who actually cared.
Why am I over thinking everything?
Before his thoughts turned violent, Duncan got up and walked into his actual bedroom. He found an American Eagle sweater laying on his bed, along with dark blue jeans and white vans.
He shrugged and just went along with it.
I'm sure Demi spent hours looking for this.
I mean, she has always been a try hard.
No, she's a perfectionist.
Duncan had to do something in order for his thoughts to stop arguing, so he started to change.
He walked into the bathroom and found a new toothbrush, a comb, some mouthwash and a brand new electric razor. He opened the shower curtain and saw bottles of Old Spice and Axe.
After he'd brushed his teeth he walked downstairs, only to be greeted by a woman whom he's never seen before.
"Hi, Duncan. My names Leah, I'm Donnie's girlfriend. I'm so glad I finally get to meet you."
She walked over to him and hugged him.
Duncan wasn't shocked to find Donnie had a new girlfriend. Donnie has always been a huge player.
Duncan shook off the thought and hugged Leah back. He took a moment to observe her features.
She had blonde hair and great, big blue eyes. She was also very short. She was wearing a pastel pink sundress with white flats. This didn't look like a girl who'd Donnie would normally date. Normally he goes after girls with piercings everywhere, and I mean everywhere. But Duncan couldn't find any nose piercings, eyebrow piercings, cheeks, lip, anything. But he did notice she had her ears pierced, which wasn't anything. She also didn't have any tattoos, which was very odd.
"It's very nice to meet you, Leah. So how long have you and Donnie been together?"
She just continued to smile brightly.
"Almost a year now. I'm seeing great changes in him too."
"Are you two living together?" Duncan hated that he was asking so many questions. But why hadn't he known Donnie had a girlfriend? Did everyone just assume he knew?
"Yes, actually we just moved in together after 6 months. That was 5 months ago. You can stay with us anytime you'd like. We have a guest bedroom where my sister comes to visit. I'm sure Donnie would love to have you come and stay with us."
"Well alrighty. It was nice talking to you Leah, but if you don't mind I'm gonna go and catch up with everyone." He smiled and shook her hand, then he walked outside to his back porch and found his siblings sitting and laughing.
"Hey, Duncan have you met my lovely girlfriend, Leah yet?" Donnie asked while beaming.
"Yes, and she's wonderful."
"Not as wonderful as Taylor." Darren said while smirking.
Darren, Donnie, and Demi were triplets. They were the first borns. Then came Derek, then Duncan.
Everyone rolled their eyes at the last comment. Duncan knew who Taylor was. She was Darren's girlfriend of 7 years now. They'd began dating when Darren was 15, with him being 22 now, it's basically a ticking clock to when he's going to propose.
Everyone was expecting Demi to say something about her new man candy, Jesse, but she didn't.
"I should go help out mom and Leah, I'll be back in a few."
Demi strolled back inside to the kitchen, while the boys were all outside drinking and smoking.
"Hey, does anyone know where dad is?" Duncan asked.
"He went to go pick up some charcoal for the grill. But since when do you care what dad's doing?" Donnie asked.
Duncan shrugged his shoulders. His father never was like a father to him. More like a distant family member. He hated all of his kids, or that's what Duncan thought. He was rude and uptight about everything. The only child he was a tad bit lenient with, was Demi. Mostly because, well, she never got in trouble. She got straight A's without her parents forcing her to. She always did everything she supposed to. Unlike her brothers, who were basic punks.
"Oh and Duncan, we invited your old friends. Tate, Leo and Gaby should be coming tonight." Derek told Duncan.
Before another word could be said, Duncan's father opened the sliding door that leads to the back porch, and asked them to help him with the big bags of food/charcoal.
It was like nothing had happened with his family. Like he had never left.
This is my life.
He thought.
This is my home.
