Sweat trickled down his back as he rushed to pour the drinks for the teenage girls who had already been waiting for 10 minutes.

Today was one of the busiest days in the surf shop, it just happened to also be Derek's first week working.

He walked out and gave the girls their drinks and proceeded to take their order.

Of course they weren't the nicest people, they had just waited to what seemed like an hour for them just to get drinks.

The shop reeked of sunscreen and sweat, but after a few days you seem to get used to it.

After a few hours the crows began to die down, as did the hot weather.

Derek was put in charge to clean and close down the shop, which he appreciated because he needed the extra cash.

As he was mopping the floor he heard someone outside the shop.

Since he was alone, or at least he thought he was, he left the door that lead to the back open, to let the ocean breeze in.

He put the mop down and quietly went outside to see what he had heard.

He walked out and saw a man with long, blonde, shaggy hair smoking a cigarette.

"We're closed." Derek said.

The man took a long drag of his cigarette, "Yeah, i know. I work here."

Derek became confused, "But iv'e never seen you here."

The man turned around and faced Derek's direction, "Iv'e taken the week off, I was in Columbia because my sister was having her first child."

Derek was in awe at the man's features.

He had tanned skin, eyes bluer than the ocean before them. He was wearing a light blue tanktop and tan cargo shorts. He had a face full of stubble, and the sharpest jawline Derek had ever seen.

"Well, congratulations. But what brings you here now?"

The man sighed, "Just came by to see if there was anything here for me to pick up, but when i saw it was only you working i just came out here and decided to have a smoke."

"Well i just started working here, its my first week. My names Derek."

The man smiled, "Kyle."

And from there it started.

Derek stopped dreading coming to work because he knew he would see Kyle.

Although he wasn't completely over what happened with Tate, he was slowly getting over the heartbreak.

He had been hanging out with Kyle at a Mexican restaurant called Azul Tequila when he got a text from Donnie saying their was a family breakfast tomorrow and was asking if Derek could make it.

Unfortunately, Derek had already made plans to go to the beach with Kyle that morning, but he couldn't let the family know he was off sneaking around with a guy.

So he lied.

He told Donnie he had work that morning and couldn't call off, which was what Kyle had told him to say.

The lie had worked, so Derek and Kyle went along their way.

The next weeks were the best for Derek, after him and Kyle had been seeing each other more, Kyle began to have feelings for him.

After they both made it official, Derek had decided to come out to his family, and apologize to Duncan and Chelsea for acting how he did.

Of course everyone didn't care that Derek was bisexual, because it didn't matter.

They all knew he was the same Derek they had grown up with and raised.

Or so they thought.

What they didn't know, as did Derek, was that Kyle was a drug dealer.

A drug addict, more so.

After weeks of being with Kyle, his addictions started to rub off on Derek.

Derek had begun doing cocaine, pills, and heroin occasionally.

He didn't think it was a problem, its not like he would do it every day.

Then Derek realized he hadnt talked to Duncan since he came out, so he decided to ask him to dinner.

The dinner went well, Derek talked about how happy he was with Kyle, how he enjoyed his job and how amazing his life was.

He could see in Duncan's eyes he thought something was wrong.

But Duncan never commented on it, unlike Derek thought he thought he would.

That night when Derek went home, he found most of Kyle's things gone.

Kyle stopped answering his calls and wouldn't respond to Derek's texts.

Nothing seemed right.

Everything was going so well.

Derek had called Kyle what seemed like thousands of times, and each time it went straight to voicemail.

Derek had quit trying around midnight, which is when he picked up his bottle of anti-depressants and accidentally took more than he meant to.

The next thing he knew, he was waking up with his whole family surrounding him.
