Chapter one
Melody's POV
I'm not your typical shy girl well not in most ways anyway.
I am not really outgoing at all not even around my one and only friend that is like me.
I read books instead of going to party's like normal people do my age. I would rather sit down with a hot chocolate and a book on my reading chair.
Yes that's right I even have a reading chair it's a comfy pull out couch with heaps of soft pillows that I can sink into.
I'm not outspoken, if anything I am that soft spoken that you wouldn't even get a chance to get three words out of me if you didn't ask me a question.
"Melody get up you are going to be late for school pumpkin" my mum called from the other side of the door.
Yes I am a senior at school and I can't wait for the Christmas holidays before I go off to uni.
I don't know what I want to do yet but I have this term to figure it out.
After getting dressed in my school uniform, which is just a blue skirt and a white shirt.
If your wondering I don't get picked on at school maybe the one person will tease me but only in a friendly way.
I looked at the time on my phone and almost screamed in horror I was going to be late for school.
I ran out the door and into the kitchen praying that my mum hasn't left for work, otherwise I won't get to school until half way through second period.
I let out a shrug of relief when I saw that she was just leaving I quickly grabbed my bag and raced out the door to catch her before she left.
"Mum can I get a lift please, I slept in and I have a test in history which is in second period." I quickly explained even though I know that she would give me a lift ether way.
"Sure honey; let's get going before I am running late for work." She giggled.
As if her boss would fire her he has had the hots for mum since we moved her five years ago after my dad passed away from Heart attack.
I was just starting high school when it happened.
"Where here pumpkin have a good day at school." My mum said with a warm smile.
Once I got my late pass and I ran to my next class which is history and it's the only one I have with my best friend Conny.
We love history, I love learning about the man that fought in our war.
I gave my note to the teacher and sat down next to my best friend who was smiling at me.
"Hey Melody, did you remember to pack your bag or did you forget that your staying at mine tonight?" Conny said while a warm smile.
"Oh gosh I forgot would you be able to drive me around to mine after school so I can pack?"
"Of course."
The school day went fast I couldn't believe I was now on my way to my second home.
Which if you haven't guessed is Conny's house.
We said a quick hello to her mum because her dad is in the military with her brother Cory.
Corey is only two years older then us but I haven't meet him before because he's in the military and when he get to leave he spends it with his family and friends.
Fiction military books are one of my favourites I always wanted to write a letter to someone that is written not typed up.
I wanted someone who is a hero in my eyes but looks scary on the outside.
In other words I want a man of many layers. Someone that has more then meets the eyes.
"Melody?" Conny called.
"Yeah sorry I was spacing out again wasn't I?" I couldn't control the blush that came to my cheeks.
"Yeah I was telling you how my brother wants someone new to write to because apparently he can't tell everything to his little sister. So I kind of..." She stop talking it looked like she was trying to handle her words very carefully.
"You kind of what?" I asked in my normal soft voice.
"Said you would write him." I couldn't help when my mouth feel open in shock. I mean how could she. I wouldn't know how to write a letter to someone I hardly know.
"Please for me write him, he already knows how pretty you are and that you are a soft spoken person please." Conny said while giving me the puppy dog eyes that she knows I can't say no too.
"Fine but when he doesn't write back it's going to be your fault and I'll never come to your house again if he is around." Even though I know I would still go there but I'd just not talk to him, not that I would be able to speak to him in the first place.
"Yay" Conny yelled while doing a happy dance which only happened once in a blue moon.
She handed me a not book and a pen.
"I don't know what to write" I couldn't help but admit.
"Just be you trust me."
Looks like she isn't going to be much help.
Dear Corey,
I am writing you a letter because of your sister Conny. I am not that good at talking to people even if it's through a letter.
So I apologise because I am probably going to bore you.
I don't know much about you other then you being Conny's brother.
If you haven't guessed who is writing you this letter. I'll tell you.
My name is Melody and I would not blame you for not writing back but I just want you to know that I think it's very brave of you to fight for what you believe in.
From Melody
Ps sorry it's so short.
Once I finished writing it which took awhile because I didn't know what to write I put it in the envelope that Conny gave me.
"Hey how did it go?" I couldn't help but jump when I heard Conny's voice from the door way. I didn't even notice that she left.
"I don't know but you better take it before I change my mind." She grabbed the letter with out a second thought wrote something on it then ran down stairs.
I couldn't help but think maybe it was a mistake.

So I have decided to continue writing this story, now that I have a new idea for the plot.
