Chapter Eighteen- Road trip

Melody's POV

"I-I have to go to the bathroom." I squeaked out while jumping up holding on to my plate.

Corey was looking at me with amusement in his eyes,  no one has ever done that before and sure his kissed my hand before but his never touched anywhere near my lips.

"Toilet is down the hall on the left." Corey spoke with a smirk before grabbing my plate off me.

Giving him a quick nod I made my way down the hall as quickly as possible.

I have been here for the last five minutes trying to calm my nerves. Corey's touch just makes my nerves and hormones go haywire.  I want to wipe that smirk of his handsome face.

Mustering up the courage I made my way back to the lounge room to find out that Corey was on his mobile.

Do I turn around and act like I wasn't here? I don't want Corey to think I am eavesdropping on his conversion.

I went to make a step back but the floor board squeaked. Corey turned around to see my standing there.

"Ok I'll be there soon. I have to go bye" Corey spoken into the phone while I'm here frozen in my spot.

"Are you up for a roadtrip with me?  I know it's late but my mate Rex needs to be picked up."

Blowing out a breath that I didn't realise I was holding. I took a few steps forward before sitting down. My leg is starting to ache from standing so much.

"S-ure I'll come, is R-ex alright?" I don't like meeting new people to much but I don't feel like being alone. Especially if I end up breaking something.

"Rex is his usual self which tends to get him in a bit of heat."

Putting my shoes on I gave Hoover a quick pat before getting up to grab my handbag while Corey went to get what he needs.

"You ready beautiful girl? " Corey asked while grabbing my hand. "Yes." I said with a small smile while giving his hand a small squeeze.

"Then let's get going. It's a couple of hours away from here. He lives in a couple of towns over."

Corey once again helped me to the car before going around to his side. Looking at the window. I shrugged I love driving at night time. It just seems to be so peaceful.

Once we got to the main road Corey turned left instead of right which would have lead us back to town.

"How long have you and Rex been friends for?" I asked breaking the peaceful silence.

"A long time, we new each other before we joined the military. I meet him the year before we did." Corey smiled and shook his head as if he was remembering the moment.

Looking up at the sky I couldn't help but let out a small shudder of sadness.

My dad and I use to drive around at night time. He said it was the most peaceful time of day and that most people take it for granted.

"Melody are you ok?" Corey husky voice spoke breaking me from my flash backs.

"Yeah sorry I drift off sometimes."

"It's ok I was just a bit concerned when you just stopped speaking out of nowhere." Corey grabbed my hand while laying a kiss on it.

Gripping Corey's hand a little tighter in a way to let him know I was sorry. This is just so surreal I never thought that I would act this way with Corey yet here I am doing so.

"Would you like to play a car game to pass the time?" I asked shyly. I can't help but feel afraid that his going to say no.

"Sure beautiful girl." Yay!
