Only fools fall for you,
Only fools do what I do

Fools // Troye Sivan

I'm off school now, so I'll have a lot more time to update! Also, thanks to MillieJames3 for the trick. If it's poorly explained, ask her for more help!

"Cath. Cath. Cath!"
"Yes, Millie?"
"Check out this trick!"
"Okay." Millie separated her cards into four piles.
"Now take three from the top and place it at the bottom." I did so. She then took a card from the top of a deck and put one on the other piles and repeating this. She then clicked her fingers. "Okay, what's on top of each deck?" I looked.
"The aces..." Millie just smiled. "That's actually pretty cool."
"Someone appreciates magic!"
"I didn't say nobody did," Ezra says, approaching the table.
"You so did!"
"Excuse me-"
"You two, shut it. We all should appreciate magic, for where would we be without it?" I said, patting the spot next to me. Ezra sat down on it.
"but that's Muggle magic she's doing."
"And?"
"I wonder what her parents would say about it." Millie's face fell.

Most Slytherins were from generations and generations of purebloods, like their parents. I was one of the few exceptions, as the rest of my family were Gryffindors. But most pureblooded adults were extremely against anything to do with muggles, as well as quite a few kiddies. Millie's parents were in on this theme, as nearly every one of my friends' parents. Excluding Will, who's muggleborn and gets hell for it.

"Ezzie," I start, using the nickname that he hates.
"It's not that I disagree with it. It's that our society does."
Millie then said something unprintable about our society.
"Millie!" Ezra just stared. She's never usually that rude.
"What?" she says, pulling out an apple.
"Wait, Millie, we're in the-"
"IS THAT FOOD?" the librarian, Madame Prince, shouts.
"Library," I finish weakly, as my books chase us out.
"Sorry," she said meekly. "I just wish we weren't pure-blooded, you know? That our society wasn't like this. It's crazy! There's already a contract to ship me off to one of the Nott boys when we've graduated." The Nott boys were twins in the year above us. They were quite nice, really, but it still wasn't fair on Millie.
"Oh, Millie," I say, pulling her into a one-armed hug.
"You don't know just how lucky you are," she says sadly.
"I think I do," I reply, as we pass my brother and Sirius. "At least the Notts are decent. It could have been worse, like a Malfoy, or a Black."
"D'you know which Nott boy?" Will asks, making me jump. I hadn't seen him join us. Poor thing, he had so many feelings for Millie, but just wasn't sure how to show them.

Later on, I decided to return my books to the library, as I'm done with them. On the way back to the dungeons, I pass Sirius, who decided to pin me up to the wall.
"What the f-"
"What was that about?" he asks.
"What was what about?"
"What you said to the Janes girl."
"What?"
"When you said to could be worse!" It takes me a few minutes to trace back my words.
"It's true. You're both idiots."
"How would you know?"
"Well, you're not really giving me a reason to think otherwise." He looks at our position, as if only just now realising how close he was.
"Ah. Sorry," he says, releasing me. I massage my head. "Give me a chance."
"What?" I say.
"To prove. That I'm not as bad as you think. Yes, my brother is a bit of an idiot. And my parents are a hundred times worse. But I think I can prove myself. That I'm not a bad person." He says the last part as if trying to persuade himself. I sigh.
"Well, that was rather charming. Okay, fine."
"Please don't tell James, though," he adds as an afterthought.
"Why not?"
"He's a lot more protective than you think." I think I know, Sirius. I don't reply. "Come on then," he says. We walk awkwardly down the hall, side by side, until we stop in front of a wall. Then, he paces back and forth three times, mumbling. That's when a door opens up in front of us. I gasp. He just smiles.
"Catherine Potter, welcome to the Room Of Requirement."
