Keep you like an oath
May nothing but death do us partUMA THURMAN // FALL OUT BOY
/
James and I were given two weeks off school- one at home, then one at school. As it was our fifth year, they were not letting us go easily. However, being stuck at home was extremely boring, and it just made it even tougher.
The first night, I did not sleep at all. I sat on the sofa all night, watching the tele-shop stuff. The next night, I had nightmares and so I sneaked into James' bed, where I actually got some sleep. I think he did, too. On the weekend, we had visitors and so I was kicked out. Of course, I was only kicked out because it was James' friends who were visiting.
Apparently, my friends were important enough.
It wasn't like I cared. I only came out from my room to eat, although on Sunday I was determined to go out, so I could get Dad a dog. He'd need the company when James and I went back to school. Dad had no idea we (well, I) were getting him a dog, so this was going to be a surprise. Hopefully, he'd like it, as he loves dogs, but he might be mad too.
We decided on a corgi, because corgis are cute. The owner was our old primary school teacher, Mrs. Jonesy, who'd recently had a baby and couldn't manage both at once.
And after not going out of my room on Saturday, I just wanted to get out.
James didn't want to go out; yet he didn't want me to go alone. So, I ended up taking Sirius with me. The boys laughed about it, as if it was an inside joke, which made Sirius a little sour and not great to walk with. On the way, he would kick rocks into the roads and jump into puddles, splashing me. On the way, we did walk past a car crash, where we stopped for a few minutes, but then told to 'mind our own business'.
"How are you dealing with... it?" Sirius asked me. I look at him, wondering whether my face tol him the answer.
"Not well. I mean, at school, I think it'll be better, because Mum and Dad aren't there, and I know that Mum was old... but still... it's just not fair."
"Well, what flowers do we pick, in gardens?"
"The best ones."
"And it just happens. At least, she won't be down here to experience the.. well. It's a war really. Soon," Sirius said. I nodded.
"I mean, when you think about it like that, yeah, it's better, but then, would we wish that on everyone? To be safer dead?"
"True that. You can't win. Not with this world."
