"Today we have a very special report." The lady on the news announces, her face in a wide smile even though her dress is so tight it looks like she's trying to mask her suffering. "Today, Dan and Zoe have finally become engaged! Isn't that wonderful? They announced their wedding date and it is going to be near the end of this month, boy they don't waste anytime do they? Next you know we'll be seeing some royal babies!" The news lady jokes happily. The news man laughs at her joke and nods his head before going into more detail of the special date Dan had planned and how the whole thing had gone down. Then he finished talking so they could show a video of an interview with the couple.

"So after five years, you finally popped the question everyone's been waiting for. Why five years?" The interviewer asks, his pen and notepad at the ready.

"Zo and I wanted to take our time and really get to know each other. Being in an arranged marriage is harder when you have no idea who you're marrying full on." Dan answers as Zoe's hand makes its way to his and intertwines their fingers.

"Zoe were you surprised by the question?"

"Only a little." She smiles sweetly and giggles. "I knew we were getting married this year as we agreed on five years but I never knew when, so in some way it was a surprise. Especially since Danny over here acted so calm unlike the nervous wreck I expected when someone proposes, I thought I'd be able to tell something was up but I didn't. It seemed like a normal date to me-" Phil shuts off the television and walks over to his bedroom door, his gaze glued on the floor, anger and jealousy bubbling in his veins.

"I'm going to be correcting papers, so please don't bother me." He mutters as he walks away from the lounge, leaving Winnie sitting alone on the couch. She watches her dad leave but decides not to talk to him about the matter right away, as that will make things worse. She sighs before replying with something off the topic that she knows he wants to talk about the least.

"Alright Dad, but don't take to long. I was hoping to play Mario kart with you later." She says, hoping that will get a small smile out of him but his lips stays a straight line.

"Alright. I'll be out of my room later." He opens the door and walks into his bedroom. He then closes the door behind him and sits on his bed.

And even though it wasn't in his best interest, he went into his contacts and clicked on a name he usually doesn't call. Then he puts his phone up to his ear and listens to it ring while his leg bounces up and down impatiently.

As the phone continues ringing Phil reaches into his shirt and grabs the golden necklace around his neck where the wedding ring Dan gave him still hangs. "Hey, I have to be honest I didn't think you'd call today of all days." When Phil hears the voice he nearly jumps from surprise.

"I-I didn't except you to answer. I thought for sure you would let it go to voice mail if you saw me calling." Phil replies.

"I could never ignore you. So, why are you calling?" Dan asks.

"I just wanted to say congratulations. I know it's odd of me to be congratulating my ex on getting engaged but I just wanted to say I'm happy for you." Phil tells him as he drops the necklace for a quick second to scratch his neck nervously.

"Thanks Phil, th-that means a lot." The King says honestly as he sits on the floor of his bathroom, face red from crying with Phil's voice being the only thing helping him to calm his tears, but make his heart anything but calm.

Phil stifles a soft laugh and grabs his necklace again so he can roll the ring around the chain between his fingers. "I hope you guys are happy together." Phil says in a bland tone to mask the pain he feels inside, Dan's heart beats painfully in his chest, it longs for Phil and he knows it. But he's keeping Phil safe by hurting him, and hurting himself in the process.
