I was laying flat on my back, my breathing shallow, my hands slightly shaky. I didn't have the strength to open my eyes. I knew I was on the brim of life, waiting for life to steal my last few breaths. I did hear a small whimpering in the back ground, I recognized it instantly. I flinched and the whimpering stopped.
"Jaz? Babe? It's me. I'm here." Lila's voice was weak and shaky, her hands were wrapped around mine. I couldn't speak, but I breathed in sharply, flinching, in order to tell her I could hear her. Her body shook, and her wet tears hit my hand. I knew it wasn't easy for her. I didn't ever want her to see me like this. Her hand let go of me.
I heard her talking to someone, a doctor I presumed. I was drifting in and out of consciousness. I heard her footsteps, and her hand was back in mine. "Jazmine, if you can hear me, I just want you to know, I love you, our baby loves you. And we will be okay, you don't have to worry about us." She took my hand, and placed it on her stomach. I tried to squeeze my hand, but my fingers would only twitch. She moved my hand across her tummy, "I know. It's okay." She whispered.
She leant forward, her face inches from mine, I could smell her PINK Sun Kissed perfume, the light scent of her foundation, and I felt the breeze of her un steady breathing. "You can let go, I love you Jaz." She whispered.
"I love you too Lila." I whimpered faintly, before the life left my body. She layed her lifts softly on mine.
