A/N: Hey again. I consider this to be too short a chapter, but I wanted to post it anyway. I will occasionally post, and I will eventually finish the story. This is a snippet of a chapter that wasn't finished. I hope you enjoy it nevertheless.

Hiccup didn't look back, like he said he wouldn't. Once he reached the busiest part of Berk, Hiccup didn't look around to see all the villagers watching their chief in confusion. He honestly couldn't care less. All he wanted was to get away from the blooming flowers, the warmth of the sun, and everything that shows happiness. It couldn't possibly be a happy day for him.

"Chief Hiccup, we need your help. The sheep have gone missing," one villager advised urgently.

Hiccup didn't even look up at him as he continued walking to his house. The older man followed him.

"What do we do?" the man continued.

"I don't know," Hiccup muttered.

"But, you're the chief. You must take care of the village," the man advised. Hiccup stopped and looked at the man that was disrupting him. He wore a helmet, and ragged clothes covered with grass and dirt. He had a long beard that shaded towards gray. He was panting, Hiccup assumed because of the runaway sheep.

"Well, I say take a dragon and go find them," Hiccup dictated, and continued walking away.

Confusion and anger flared on the villager's face from his chief's impertinence. "And what will you do, Hiccup?" he asked.

Hiccup, with sudden rage built inside him, turned around and fumed. "I will do what I want. I told you what to do, and yet, you aren't listening. What are you doing?" The scared villager stepped back and began to apologize, but Hiccup interrupted.

"And to all of you, you will address me with respect, calling me 'Chief Hiccup' or you serve a punishment," Hiccup addressed to all the villagers around him, who now gazed at him wide-eyed and fearfully.

Hiccup had the urge to say one more thing. He pointed at the older gentleman, who was now on his knees. "And we will start with example. You," Hiccup pointed, "will stay in the Berk's  underground dungeon to sentence your punishment." Hatred sparked in his eyes.

"No, please, there are dragons in that dungeon," the villager pleated. Empathy and logic hadn't reached Hiccup. He was too overwhelmed with anger to notice what he did. He whistled and two dragons came to pick the old villager up by each arm, and flew him to the underground dungeon.

Everyone watched as the innocent villager was carried off in the sky, still crying out, by two dragons. When he became too small to see, they gazed back at Hiccup.

He looked at them back and commanded, "Get back to work."

All of them ran away from him, dispersing as quick as possible. All except one girl. Astrid.
